Kevin began to tell Avi as much as he understood of the story, but Scott didn't care.
Scott held Mitch on his lap, refusing to let him leave, and occasionally whispered apologies and other sad things.
Mitch leaned into him, having missed Scott's presence. "Stop it. I already forgave you."
"I know. But... I don't want to lose you. And I'm sorry that I'm such an idiot. I'm sorry that I didn't believe you, there was no reason for me to disrespect you like that."
"But I forgave you."
"Doesn't matter. It's important, yes. But I'm still so sorry. I probably embarrassed you, and I'm sorry for that. I probably hurt your feelings, and I'm sorry for that too."
Avi finally spoke up on the other side of him, Kevin having sat down. "Could you two please... Drop it? Having an argument isn't the end of the world."
Scott shook his head, hugging Mitch tighter. "It wasn't an argument. It was me being an awful person and being super rude to the love of my life. So we'll dwell on it as long as he wants to, thank you very much."
Avi turned in his seat a little. "Hear me out for a second; Scott, you're not perfect. Though sometimes I think you're pretty darn close. You can't protect him from absolutely everything. So yes, you said something mean. And yes, you needed to apologize. But that doesn't make you an awful person."
"Yes it does. He trusts me all the time, so for me not to trust him is--"
"That's not true. How many times did he accuse you of things with Alexander? I'm not.. Trying to bring up old problems, I'm just putting it out there. It made sense to you, even if just for a moment, but you immediately realized your mistake and tried to fix it. And that's all there is to it."
"But I--"
"Scott. That's enough."

After the appetizers came out, Scott and Mitch had returned to their normal conversation.
Scott kissed the side of Mitch's neck. "Is there something I can do to make it up to you, baby?"
Mitch giggled, taking a moment to think about it. "Well... When we get home, will you take a bath with me?"
"Anything for you, Sweetie. Thank you for forgiving me."
"As if you don't forgive me all the time." Mitch countered, giggling afterward.
"But that's different."
"Is it?"
Scott was about to answer, but accidently got lost in his thoughts, as he stared at Mitch's face. He suddenly leaned in to kiss Mitch's nose, and then smiled. "You're so beautiful... I'm so grateful for you, do you know that?"
"Yeah. I know." Mitch replied quietly with a blush, feeling the cold metal of Scott's wedding ring as Scott slipped his hand under Mitch's shirt for a second.
Mitch got a little side tracked as well, and spread his hand out across the expanse of Scott's cheek, running his fingertips along Scott's cheekbone, before he slowly leaned in to kiss him.
Alex glanced up at them for a second, and nearly choked on his salad when he saw a little bit of tongue.
Jake patted his back softly. "Are you alright, babe?"
Alex nodded, having to take a sip of water to calm himself down. "Yes, Sir. Thank you."
Avi had noticed everything, though he tried to mind his own business. "Public. You're in public."
