Chapter 189

Avi was now sitting at the table, explaining the entire situation to the rest of the pack that needed to know.

Meaning Kirstie, Kevin and Todrick.

Kirstie was very torn up about it, as was Kevin, though Kevin was relieved that something about Scott finally made sense.

When Avi was done speaking, Kevin had somewhere around 100 questions. To list a few;

"But it wasn't his baby?"

"No."

"And they weren't married?"

"No."

"Was she a toddler? Or a baby?"

"Baby."

"And someone attacked her? Attacked a baby?"

"Someone attacked her mother. And the baby was kind of... Crossfire."

"And Scott was injured?"

"Correct."

"How?"

"He tried to protect them, and was taken to the ground. Broken ribs, and a broken wrist I think. Knocked unconscious before he could do anything else."

"Wow... And then he met Alex?"

"Yeah."

"And Alex was in the hospital for getting beat up by the other pack?"

"Mhmm."

Todrick spoke up then, finally interrupting their interrogation. "Alex was in the hospital? Was he okay?"

Avi broke his eye contact with Kevin, to look at the other Beta. "Yeah. I think... A broken hand, and a broken nose. But you'd have to ask him."

Todrick looked down at the table. "I feel bad for all of them. And I hate feeling bad for people because it makes my insides hurt. But my goodness, Scott hid it well. I never would've guessed..."

Kevin frowned at him, reaching over to put a hand on his back. "Don't put blame on yourself, if that's what you're doing. You can be empathetic, but don't you dare make yourself guilty."

Avi shook his head slowly. "Todrick... Scott didn't even tell Mitchell. And they've been together for years. If he was able to keep it from Mitchell, none of us stood any kind of a chance."

Kevin raised his hand halfway. "Um, Sir? I have another question."

"I expected as much."

"Why did you know about it, but Travis didn't? He was the Lead at the time, no?"

"I'm sure Scott said something about it. And... Scott didn't talk to Travis as much, because he was always busy with Alexander. But Scott and I didn't have Mates, so we just stuck with each other all the time."

"You and Kirstie weren't..?"

"No. This was before I asked her out. Anyhow, with Scott and I hanging out all the time... He found out all my dirt, and I found out all of his in return."

"He told you?"

"He had to. The bruises took a while to heal, and he and I were sharing a room, remember?"

"Right. Of course... And you saw them, and asked about it? And then he told you?"

"Correct. He didn't necessarily want me to know... But I think he needed someone to talk to. Someone he could trust. Because the guilt was eating him up, and I could see it."
