Double for Valentine's????
********
The rest of that day, the only important thing that happened was Avi making a schedule with the Counsel regarding their working days. It was only necessary for about three days a week, for the time being.
So the next day, was an off day. And Kevin was excited about it, because upon doing some reading in the Counsel's Beta Library, he found out that this day, was a day called 'Valentine's Day.'
Many people didn't believe it was a real holiday, including people that still celebrated it. However people of this society, hardly even knew it existed.
He'd gotten up early, with Todrick and Scott, and they went to the store at about five in the morning.
Scott only agreed because A; Kevin said they'd get coffee and B; Mitch said he would go lay down with Avi and Kirstie until he came back home.
So they were now in a store, Scott with a coffee in hand, and Kevin with a smile bright enough to light the entire building.
Todrick wasn't really on board with the whole idea though. "I don't understand why there needs to be a holiday for this. Why choose one day out of the year to appreciate the people you love? Why can't you just do it every day?"
Scott put an arm over his shoulders as they followed Kevin around the store. "See, that's why you're the Beta. That makes much more sense. I'm perfectly on board with that."
Kevin shushed them, waving a hand in their direction, as he picked up a few things and dropped them into the cart he was pushing. "Will you two stop? You're making me feel bad for being excited about something stupid."
Todrick frowned. "Aw, Kevy. It's not stupid. It just seems... Kind of sad to me. That there needs to be a holiday in other societies for love, simply because they don't appreciate the people they love often enough without a holiday to remind them. That's all I'm saying."
Scott walked away for a few seconds, to throw away his empty cup, and then walked over to Kevin to take the cart from him, to push it for the distraught Beta.
Kevin had a list in his hand, Lord only knows what it was for. Todrick walked over and held his other hand, as Scott pushed the cart behind them.
Meanwhile Jake was at the house, making breakfast with Alex.
Alex had been smiling the entire morning, and Jake finally inquired why.
Alex had only giggled and shrugged. "I don't know. It's a good morning. There's no reason to frown."
"How is it a good morning? Did something happen?"
"No. Just.. I woke up. You woke up. Toddy woke up... Everyone I care about is alive and well. Why not be grateful for it? There's no reason to frown on a day like today."
Jake stared at him for a second, until he dropped the whisk in his hand and surged forward to kiss Alex, both hands on the sides of Alex's face.
The Omega was only slightly alarmed, as Jake pushed him against the counter with a rough kiss, and then pulled away just to stare at him.
Alex smiled at him. "What was that for?"
"You're too sweet for your own good. And... You have such a beautiful view of the world, even though all it's ever shown you is devastation and pain..."
Alex giggled again, still pressed against the counter. "That's nice of you to say."
They heard footsteps, and immediately dispersed from each other, Jake grabbing the whisk from the floor and walking over to the sink to clean it.

After everyone in the house was awake, and sitting at the table eating breakfast, Kevin burst into the room with a huge smile on his face.
Todrick walked in behind him, holding the door open for Scott who was holding nearly ten plastic bags, and the stem of a single rose between his lips as the flower hung off to the side.
Scott walked over to Mitch, bending a little to drop the rose into his lap. Scott then smiled at him, and pecked his lips once. "I love you, baby. Good morning."
"Morning. I love you too." Mitch grinned, holding the rose and smiling at it.
Scott then walked into the kitchen to unload the groceries, Todrick at his side to help, while Kevin stood in front of the table to explain Valentine's day to everyone.
Todrick left the kitchen once, and handed a small box of chocolate to Alex, kissing his temple, before wordlessly walking away.
This is what had Alex raising his hand. "Wait, I'm confused. So you're giving me chocolate because... You..? I'm sorry, I really don't understand."
Kevin nodded once. "Okay, let me try to explain... Todrick gave you chocolate, because it's like.. Objectifying the feeling of love. Does that make sense? He's... Showing you that he loves you with chocolate, so that you can understand how he feels without verbalizing it."
"Why would someone want to do that? Love, the emotion, is much better than an object to represent it."
Kevin's shoulders sagged. "Oh no. Not you too."
Avi waved a dismissive hand as he looked up from his food. "Alexander, don't do that. Kevin understands that you can't buy love. But he just wants to celebrate it because he thinks it's cute. That's all."
Alex nodded a few times. "I understand, Sir."
Kirstie smiled at Kevin and set a hand on Avi's arm. "I think it's cute too! We should definitely celebrate it!"
Kevin smiled a little again. "Is it okay if we do, Alpha?"
All eyes turned to Avi, including Scott leaning out the walkway of the kitchen.
Avi, if he was being honest, loved seeing Kevin get excited about things. And it was just a day to see who could be the most cheesy and romantic, so why not?
Might give Scott a little confidence boost, seeing as how cheesy and romantic were two things he was very good at.
Avi just took a sip of his coffee. "Yeah, why not?"
Todrick walked out once more, this time handing a teddy bear to Kevin with a smile. "Happy Valentine's Day, baby."
Kevin finally got his smile back, as he pressed a quick kiss to Todrick's lips, and then nearly crushed him in a hug.
Avi shook his head at them and continued to eat. "Did you guys have breakfast already? I think there's still some stuff in the kitchen."
Todrick met his eyes, although he continued to be crushed by Kevin's hug. "Yes, Sir. We ate on the way back."
Avi looked up for a moment skeptically. "Scott too?"
"Yes, Sir."
Kirstie stood from the table and walked into the kitchen, hoping to find something to give to Avi for this new holiday.
Scott was still digging through bags, when he looked up and saw her grinning at him. "What's up, Kit? You alright?"
"Yes, Alpha. I really like this holiday. I bet you do too, since you can't pull yourself from Mitchie anyway." She giggled.
Scott chuckled in agreement. "I know. It's gonna be fun."
"Is... Um. Is there anything in there I could give my Alpha...? It could be something really small. Like.. A mint, even."
Scott chuckled again, looking back down at the bag. "Yeah. I have some chocolate I think. Will that work?"
Kirstie smiled widely and nodded. "Yes, that'll work perfectly. Thank you."
