Please check out my Amazon page for my other works. I also have some free stuff up on my website, and on SH.

Thank you for your support.

Also, please note that due to a bug in Wattpad's system I'm having to move around a lot of chapters. Many chapters will be found in the 2nd 'book' for this story. I'll have the first 200 chapters in this 'book'. And then the next 200 chapters in the next book, etc. Please be patient with me on this.

Chapter 21 Part A

Quest (?); Going to meet Akira and Yuta's schemes...

The wild forested land here would be considered blessed and the type of green settlers and farmers would covet...if it weren't for who knows what kinds of monsters. The land was rich and ideal for all kinds of economic activities and settling...

Except for all the hidden dangers here.

In the back of our minds, we all know orcs are probably only a day away. Probably also they had scouts hiding in the trees all around us. So girls especially stayed in groups, but boys did too in our group.

We got up and got cleaned up. We'd basically camped out together. It wasn't all bad either. Last night, Rina, and Asakura had slept next to me. And they'd made us a clean place to sleep where we'd all been huddled up. Then Yumi had slept next to Rina. All four of us also slept away from the others, but hidden from discovery. I didn't mind camping that much and the weather wasn't bad.

This morning, we'd foraged some berries and some kind of fruit. We'd also cooked some fish over a fire. (We didn't risk the fire at night. But this morning we'd planned to move right after breakfast anyway.) Overall it was peaceful. And I'd caught the food we ate, which I shared with them.

We left our hideaway spot rather quickly and within a few minutes of walking with a good pace, we'd already gotten to the area near where the others of our school were gathered. Slowly we wound our way down through the string of grass huts being formed along the woods edge and its interior pathways. Always we moved carefully like every move could be our last; and that was what it took to survive here.

Much of this was also happening to be using paths of well worn deer trails that wound through the terrain. We could tell this because of the deer pellets they'd left behind, in addition to the foot tracks. This had been the case since our area started finding places for the huts to be built in the woods and forested mountain slopes around us, but I'd not noticed it until now when Asakura Sensei pointed it out.

"See the how worn and dry the trail is from years of deer roving through this area looking for the richer and longer grass, growing in the shadows of the trees," Sensei said, pointing it out.

"They seem to be able to smell where the good grass is from a long way away huh?" I noticed.

"Ah, so that's how they figured out how to arrange the huts!" Rina exclaimed in fascination. "I wondered why there was already a trail going through the area! It's amazing! Maybe we'll get to see a baby deer!" Rina laughed like an innocent kid.

Well we are all kids still, since we're mostly around upper high school high school age around 18 if not already, except for Miss Asakura our teacher. Somehow her laugh helped the rest of us feel better though.

"Actually maybe if we're able to get to eat a baby deer that would be more interesting. I'm all for Bambi and all that. But after feeling real hunger I can see why people like hunting," Yumi said smugly. She was partly messing with Rina, but also she was really hungry like the rest of us. If we were to get any hungrier I'm sure we'd become ravenous wolves.
