I chuckled as I watched the gurls go absolutely mental through the rearview mirror as we drove away. "They are never going to let me forget this," I said, shaking my head and settling back into my seat.
"They seem like nice girls," David said. "I'm glad I got to meet them."
"Trust me, they were way more happy to meet you."
"Yeah, I kinda picked up on that. But what did I tell you? Girls just love me."
I rolled my eyes, "Whatever, mister 'ladies man'."
He smirked, "So, are you going to admit that you're jealous now?"
"Nope. Never."
"And why not?" he teased.
I turned my head to glance at him, "Because I'm not jealous."
"You so are."
"I am not!"
"Are too."
I scoffed and stared out my window, "I'm not going to play this stupid back and forth game."
"So... you're admitting it then?" I shoved his shoulder and he laughed, "Hey, don't distract the driver."
A mischievous smile found its way onto my lips and I turned to him fully. "Oh, I'm distracting you, am I?" I asked in my best seductive voice. My fingers slowly traced down his side and I noticed his chest expand with a deep breath. "Well, I'm really sorry about that," I continued in my alluring tone. "Is there anything I can do to, you know..." I slid my hand across his torso and started inching it downwards, "stop being such a distraction?"
His hands were clenched so tight on the steering wheel that his knuckles were turning white and the struggle of restraint was evident on his face. "Angel," he whispered, his deep and husky voice sending heat between my legs. "Please stop," he pleaded, obviously finding it difficult to keep his gaze on the road.
I glanced out the windshield and then down at my hand and my eyes widened when I realized just how far it had gotten. I quickly pulled away and shoved my hands under my legs, not trusting them to be out anymore. "I..." I cleared my throat, "I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking..."
His grip on the wheel relaxed a bit and he let out a low breath. "It's okay," he said, sending me a reassuring smile.
I looked out the window again, feeling a slight blush on my cheeks. I gazed over the landscape and furrowed my eyebrows when I saw my mailbox just down the street. "I thought you said we had somewhere to be?"
He shrugged, "What? Wanting to spend some alone time with you isn't a good enough place to be?" He pulled into the driveway and we walked up to the front door with joint hands. I pushed it open and stepped inside, looking around in confusion.
"Um... What's this?" I asked as I unzipped my coat and hung it on the railing. There were rose petals on the stairs and all the curtains were closed, making the house dim and mysterious. I started to pull off my shoes but he stopped me.
"You might want to keep those on for a minute." I raised an eyebrow at him and he smiled, taking my hand again and leading me upstairs. "Just come with me." We followed the petals through the kitchen to the deck door and I saw that there were more outside, heading into the dome.
I chuckled, "Should I go put on m-"
"Shh, don't ask questions," he interrupted and slid the door open.
We walked the short distance across thinly snow-covered deck (which I assume is why he asked me to keep my shoes on) and he pulled back the tarp flap for me. I ducked inside and nodded approvingly at what he'd done. The hot tub cover was half open and he'd set a candle, a few towels, and a vase of flowers onto it. The steamy air was scented with vanilla and cinnamon, which covered up the usual smell of chlorine.
