Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep! Beep!
"Ugh..."
Beep! BEEP! BEEP! BE- I slammed the snooze button on my alarm clock and buried my face in my pillow, praying for a few more precious minutes of sleep.
"I'm not an expert," a voice mumbled next to me, "but I'm pretty sure that noise means it's time to get up."
I groaned, "I don't wanna."
He chuckled and pulled me into his chest, "Well, I guess you could just stay here with me all day..."
I smiled and wrapped my arm around him, "I think that sounds like a much better idea." So we laid there for a couple minutes, occasionally stealing a kiss or two, before an all too familiar sound interrupted the peace once again.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
"Argh!" I growled and turned over to yank the cord out of the wall. I huffed and flopped on my back, staring up into blackness since the sun hadn't come up yet.
"You should go get ready," David said. "Wouldn't want to be late."
I sighed and rolled out of bed, stumbling my way through my messy room to the bathroom door. I drowsily got ready for the day before making my way to the kitchen. When I got there, I saw that he'd already made a quick breakfast and was just sitting and watching out the sliding-glass door that leads to the deck. I draped my arms over his shoulders and kissed his cheek, "What are you looking at love?"
"What's that big tarp thing out there?" he asked, gesturing his head to what he was talking about.
I slid into my chair and took a bite of my food, not even having to look outside to know what he was referring to. "My dad calls it 'the dome.' He built it over the hot tub so we can go out there even if it's snowy, windy, or rainy."
He turned a curious gaze to me, "Hot tub?"
I nodded, "We've had it for as long as I can remember. My mom uses it to destress and since my dad has such a physical job he goes out there almost every day. I used to join them a lot, but now I'm so busy that I never have time to. It is a really nice way to relax, though."
A smirk played on his lips as he looked out there again. "Good to know."
I knew he was planning something, but I didn't dwell on what it could be. I tapped his plate and said, "Eat up. We've got to get going soon." Usually my mom drove me to school in the morning, but David had agreed to bring me so she could sleep in. My dad had gone to work about an hour ago so that's why we were alone at the table.
"You get home around three, right?" he asked absentmindedly, still staring out the window.
"Yeah, school gets out at 2:30 and then the bus ride is half, an ho..." my sentence fizzled out as an idea came to me and a smile found it's way onto my face. "Actually... Maybe you could pick me up? I know some people who would just love to meet you."
"Sure," he mumbled distractedly. I rolled my eyes and waved my hand in front of his face. He blinked a few times and finally turned his head to look at me again. "Sorry, what did you say?"
"Can you pick me up from school at 2:30?"
"Uh, yeah, okay."
"Cool. Now go put a shirt on, we need to head out."
A few minutes later, we were on the road in my new car. I was trying for my license in a few weeks and I couldn't wait until I could go where I wanted, when I wanted. I technically could've been driving right now since I have my permit and he's over 21, but I told him to drive so he would know the way to the school.
