Dear BAM,
Hello. I was wondering if you would help me with a couple problems that I have. This first one is a life problem. Basically every day I am treated like a pushover. Everyone in the school thinks that they can just rule my life. I am stereotyped as a nerd that is so obedient, and I don't like it. On top of that I am constantly bullied every day for a large sum of reasons. The biggest one is people calling me a lesbian which I'm not. There is nothing wrong with lesbians I just don't like being called one when I'm not. I really want to change my image, but I don't know how. Should I change the way I look and act? Can you help?
My second problem is a life problem as well. I am extremely self conscious and antisocial. I've got all of these horrible things going on in my life and no one to turn to. I've been having suicidal thoughts for years and even tried committing it once. My friends all think I talk about myself to much so I don't want to try and tell them all that's going on because then I'll seem like I just want attention and I don't. Plus my so called friends and I get in fights so very often. I've tried making new friends but I just can't. How do I stop being so alone and self conscious?
Sincerely,
Helen

Dear Helen,
No. You should never change for people that aren't relevant. But one think I can advice you to do is not let people push you over. Don't let people tell you or control you and your life. It's not theirs to control in the first place. Tell them to worry about themselves because your body is already taken. Now with bullying. People have nothing better to do. If your not a lesbian, then your not. You can ignore them or you can just go up and kiss a guy just to prove your point. But of course I'd advice to just ignore them and not get to you. I had the same problem with people. The more they get a rise out of you, the worse it gets.
Well you could always have a couple friends from the internet. I find that some people on the internet are more likely not to judge you and actually understand you then most people in your day to day life. Friends fight, it's normal but it depends on what you fight about. And what I suggest is actually going mute for the day, see who actually cares enough to notice or ask you what's wrong. But don't give in the first time. A true friend will continue to ask and wait till you do. But of course there's nothing wrong with being alone either girly. You learn to be more independent and less self conscious about yourself. And also to be less self conscious is to train your mind to love the things that your so self conscious about. As well as being suicidal , come talk to me and maybe I can help you further :)
