Part 86: fall and shatter

Adriana:

As I got downstairs I saw Karen in the kitchen. I tried to sneak past her but that didn't work. "Morning Adriana. Where are you off to?" I sighed as I walked up to her, sitting down at the table.
"I uhm... I just want to go somewhere where I can talk to someone. I think I'll go to Liam's." She nodded, but I can see the thoughts rushing through her head.

She sat down beside me, taking my hand in hers. "What's up with you two lately. I've been noticing things aren't as they were, are you guys okay?"
"I don't know. I don't know what's going on but I feel like we're both so distant with each other." I rested my head in my hands as I felt tears pricking in the back of my eyes.

"You guys are meant to be Adriana."
I didn't say anything to this. I didn't know what to say.
Was there even something to say?

"I have to go Mrs Mendes. If Shawn asks where I am, just tell him I'll be back soon." She nodded, giving me a hug before I left.

When I arrived at Liam's house I let out a deep breath before knocking on the door. "I got it mum!" I heard him yelling from inside, followed by hard footsteps as he rushed up to the door. "Hell- Adriana! Oh my god!" He immediately pulled me in to a hug.

It's the first time he saw me ever since that night of Shawn's accident.

"Are you okay? How are you?"
Just by hearing the questions I already knew that the time he told me he likes me... he only cares for me.

"I'm okay. Shawn is doing fine as well. He woke up so that's a blessing." I chuckled but he just nodded, rolling his eyes a bit. I furrowed my eyes together as I looked at him.
"Why did you roll your eyes?"
"Because I don't care about him Adriana, I care about you." I laughed, unbelievable.

"To think that I came here to talk to you and then you act like this! I care about him Liam and no matter what you do or say nothing will change that!" As I turned to walk away he grabed my arm, pulling me back.
"Common please Adriana. That guy can't care for you like I do, he doesn't know you like I do!"
"He doesn't have to know me like you do Liam, but he understands me, and he loves me!"

💞Shawn:

I woke up.
She's gone.

"Mum!"
Silence.
"Mum!"

"I'm coming!" I heard her walking up to my room as I got dressed. "Where's Adriana?" She shrugged her shoulders at first, saying that she'll be back soon. "Mum please tell me where she went!"
"She's at her friend, Liam's."

Immediately I felt a gut feeling that something's wrong, so I started rushing to get done.
"She's okay Shawn!"
"No she's not! I feel something is wrong!" I rushed downstairs, jumping in my car and driving off. I don't know where this guy lives but I know it's close to Adriana's.

I drove through all the streets till I saw them standing outside on the lawn, she pushing him around by the shoulders and hitting his arm with anger.
And he held on to her.

"Hey! Get your hands off my girl!" I jumped put of my car after parking, running up to them and pushing him away. "What do you see in this guy Adriana?" I looked over my shoulder to her as I held him by his shirt.
"Shawn. Please don't do this." She asked, tears in her eyes. I looked back at Liam, letting go of him and stepping back to her.

"Are you okay?" I cupped her cheeks, but she just embraced me in a hug. "Take me home." She mumbled in my chest. "If you ever lay your hands on her again I'll hunt you down." I pointed to Liam.

Never liked that guy.
And his feelings are mutual from him towards me.

"Common." I kissed the top of her head before taking her hand in mine and walking back to my car. She was silent, just staring blankly in front of her.
If she doesn't talk to me about what's going on with her today, I don't know where we're going.

We're heading towards a cliff, waiting to fall and shatter.
