Part 81: sick joke

Adriana:

"Adriana! Adriana! Adriana!" I heard the sharp yell, hearing the footsteps of Aaliyah running up to me in the room.
I slowly sat up on the mattress.

"Hey?"
"He's awake! He's awake Adriana!" My eyes grew bigger as I jumped up from the bed. "What! He-he woke up?" I was on the verge of crying again, for its all an emotional roller coaster ride of my joy, tears, excitement and heartache.

She grabbed my hand and pulled me with her to the outside where Manny was waiting in the car.

"Good afternoon Canada! We come to you today with the very first weather cast of the week with sun shining and clouds gone."

My heart pumped higher and higher as I thought about Shawn.

Today is the first sunshiny day.
He's awake.

When we got to the hospital I ran in, way ahead of everyone just to get to him. I stood outside, seeing Karen and Shawn talking.
My eyes started tearing up as I saw him sat up in his bed.
A small smile on his face as he held on to his mums hand and they talked.
She looked over to me, but she didn't smile.

What?
What's going on?

"Why isn't your mum happy?"
"Yeah um... Shawn asked for pictures right before we came to get you, and we showed him some but he didn't really recognize any." My heart dropped.

Fuck, no!
This can't be happening.

"What?"
"No, don't stress about it because when Brian came in he recognized him, where he didn't recognize him on the picture."
It gave me a easing feeing but I'm still worried that he won't remember me.
I need him, he needs to remember.

I wiped my cheeks clean of tears and I took in a deep breath before walking inside to him. He didn't look over to my till I reached his bed and he realized I was there.
"Hi." I said softly but unsure.
I want to hug him, swoop him up and just kiss him, but his eyes doesn't recognize mine.

Karen got up, placing her hand on my shoulder and left the room. He looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed together.

"Shawn? Do you know who I am?" I started sniffing as my heart broke at the scene.
"It's me... Adriana?" I walked closer to him, placing my hand over his, but he pulled away. "Why does that feel so important to me? Adriana? Adriana? I feel like I know the name but I'm not sure." He still looked at me confused.
"Please don't do this to me, please you need to remember." I softly started crying as I locked my eyes on his.
He had no expression on his face as I fell apart in front of him.

"Please stop crying baby, I don't like it when you cry." He said softly after a while. My head shot up to him as I locked my eyes on his, seeing the big smile on his face and his eyes almost begging for forgiveness.
"What?" I sat down on the bed next to him and he took my hand in his.

"I could never forget you babe, you're too important."
"For gods sake Shawn!" I punched his arm as I cried again. I was seriously preparing myself to say goodbye to the one I love.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't think you'll take it that seriously, but I should've known. It was probably too early for a joke." He chuckled as he grabbed a hold of my arms, pulling me in to his chest as he wrapped his arms around me.

God it felt so good to hold him again.

"I'm sorry." He whispered, pecking my cheek and I only wrapped my arms tighter around him. "That's a sick joke Shawn!" He laughed at me, rubbing my back before grabbing a hold of my face and crashing his lips to mine.
Oh how I missed him, his kisses and his voice.

Fuck, I love him so much!
