Shawn:

💞that night💞

There's a graduation party at Cody's house, but my parents invited us over for dinner. And I'd much rather have a relaxed evening with family, than hanging around a bunch of drunk and high teenagers.

"Before we head over to my parents, my mum asked me to get some things from the shop." "Okay." I walked over to her with a big smile. "You have something on your mind. I can see it." She whispered, wrapping her arms around me neck, stepping even closer to me.
Her eyes searched for the story behind mine, trying to find what it is I want to tell her.

"I just..." I paused, swallowing my tears. "I just want to thank you." She smiled, "Shawn-"
"No, let me finish." I wrapped my arms around her waist.
"Thank you for not giving up on me, no matter how big of a pain I can be. I know I'm a handful sometimes, but still you stood by my side. I've..." I chuckled, just caving in and letting the thankful tears fill my eyes. "I've never been this happy my entire life. Thank you for making me the happiest man alive, saving me from the black hole I was in. I don't deserve you, but yet, here you are."

"I love you Mendes. You have no idea how happy you make me and thank you for sticking with me as well. This feels weird to be so normal when we both know how weird we can get." I laughed. "I love you." I pressed my lips to hers, feeling her fingers combing through my hair as her lips formed to a smile. "Common, let's go." I wrapped my arm around her shoulders as we walked out, locking the door and getting in my car to go to the store.

When we arrived at the store, people were streaming in and out. It's holiday now, we should've expected this. I took her hand in mine, slowly intertwining our fingers as we walked inside. "What do we need?" She reached for a basket and we rushed out of the way for the other people streaming in. "Drinks and snacks." We headed towards the isles.

As we stood by the fridges, contemplating about which soda's to take, I saw this old lady in the rare view of my eye. She's probably been staring at us for about ten minutes straight. Not moving. Not approaching or saying anything.
"Adriana that lady is really creamping me out."
"What lady Shawn?" She chuckled, turning around to search for whoever I am referring to.

"She's an old lady Mendes, she can't harm you no matter how hard she tries." I laughed at her statement though, but as I glanced back over to thr lady I saw her walking closer. "She's approaching. I repeat, she's approaching." She turned around and came face to face with her. She looked at Adriana with admiration and sadness both dwelling in her eyes.
Adriana took a small step back, holding on to my arm.

I bet if she could say something right now it'll be 'Shawn, that lady is creeping me out.' "Adriana?" She spoke and I could feel the shock going through Adriana's body as her eyes grew wider, looking at the lady but not recognizing.

"Yeah. I'm sorry, but do I know you?" The lady smiled a big but sad smile, "No. but I know you, and a grandma never forgets her granddaughter."
"What!" Adriana gasped, turning around to me in a swift movement, her eyes big as her jaw almost dropped to the ground. "You're my grandma?" The lady nodded, pulling Adriana in to a hug. When her arms wrapped around her it was as if all the problems were washed away, like she knew that was family, where she belonged.

It made me scared though.
I felt the big hole that Worry left on my stomach as I looked at her. Why does it feel like I'm losing her when she chases her past? It makes me think that I'm not good enough for her, even though I know that's not the case here.

"Well, nan." She chuckled, "This is my boyfriend Shawn."
"Nice to meet you." She shook my hand, and then also pulled me in to a hug. "I'd love to talk to you, if we can see each other again I'd really appreciate it." Adriana asked, her eyes glossy from tears as she smiled at her grandma.

"Of course pumpkin." Adriana's smile faded when the name came to her, she told me about it. Her dad called her 'pumpkin' when she was little.
I wrapped my arm around her shoulder as her Nan wrote down an address, time and date for them to meet up. "Thank you." They hugged again before we then went our separate ways.

"It was nice to be introduced as your boyfriend." I bumped her aide, seeing the smile still presents on her face. "Babe, I just met my grandma."
"I know, that creepy old lady is related to you. Makes sense now." She pushed me in to the aisle as we laughed. "Love you." I took her hand in mine, kissing he top of her hand and then wrapping my arm around her.
