Part 102: welcome home

Adriana:

When we arrived home, hours later, we came to the surprise of Manny, Karen and Aaliyah along with some of Shawn's friends all surprising us.
A warm 'welcome home'.

But till this point I still didn't feel good nor got any better. I guess my allergy for shrimp is a bit bigger than I think? "Welcome home guys." Karen hugged us a sweet hello, clearly she missed Shawn, and me, a lot over the past five days. After we greeted everyone, had a drink or two and talked about everything in endless conversations, I saw Karen calling me over from the kitchen.

"Hey."
"Hey Adriana, are you okay? When I saw you this evening you looked kind of pale and you don't seem to get all involved in any conversation." I shook my head a bit as I leaned on the island in the kitchen. "I don't feel too good. Shawn and I had shrimp in a paella pasta last night and after that I didn't feel too good." She nodded, taking in the information but I saw that she had something else in mind.

"I know his is none of my business, but you and Shawn are both together and grown up kids." Just by the start of this I already knew where she's going. "Did you guys had sex?" My cheeks burned as I nodded shyly. "Yeah." I whispered softly, and a small smile played on her lips. "Come with me." She took my hand and we sneaked out of the house. "Where are you going?" Shawn called from the porch where he and his friends chatted.
"We uhm.." I nervously looked over to Karen. "None of your business." She said, walking us over to the car and drove off.

"Sorry ma'am, but where are we going?" She smiled over to me, "Adriana, I don't think you're sick of the paella." She chuckled, and only then the shock came to me. "Oh dear god! What have we done!" I ran my hands through my hair as my heartbeat raised.
"Hey! Don't worry, I may be wrong but if not it's not that bad of a thing." My eyes just grew bigger and bigger as I felt a lump in my throat and a hole on my stomach.

Shit!
What if she's right?

She pulled up at the 24/7 drugstore, and we got out. Searching down the aisles till we found a pregnancy test and she sent me to the bathroom as she went up to pay. She's the mother I never had, and I'm lucky to have her here with me.
I'd be a mess if I had to face this all on my own.

"Please be negative. Please be negative." I know it won't be a bad thing to be pregnant, but I don't want Shawn to leave me, and besides we never even talked about what will happen if this happens. God, we never even talked about kids.
"No! Fuck!" I yelled, immediately hearing Karen knocking on the door.

"Adriana?" I walked out, my eyes tearing up as I looked at her. "What do I do?" She pulled me in to a hug, but she wasn't at all sad about it. "This is fantastic!" She squealed. I walked away, sitting down outside of the shop. Crying in to my hands.
"Adriana?"
"This isn't what I wanted to happen. This wasn't supposed to happen." I sobbed, feeling her hand rubbing my back after she sat down next to me.

"This is not a bad thing. I know it's not the ideal time or it's very unexpected, but you're going to give life to a creation of your very own. Someone carrying both you and Shawn. This is amazing Adriana." She reassured me. I smiled faintly at her as I chuckled a bit. "I actually always wanted to be a mum." I croak out with a little laugh, before I cried again.

"What about Shawn? He'll hate me! He'll leave me!"
"Oh god no he won't. If he does I'll kill him, I swear I will." I laughed at her statement as she pulled me in to a side hug. "Thank you Ma'am." "Please, by all means call me mum or Karen. You're family darling. We love you." I gave her a big hug, thanking her again for taking care of me as if I'm her own.

We sat there talking for about half an hour before heading back home. We stayed there because I wasn't ready to go home, and she helped talk some sense in to me about the situation.
We drove home.

Now to face Shawn, tell him.... Oh god.
