Shawn:
I took her hand in mine, holding on for life and death as we sprinted through the pouring rain, in the direction of the diner.
My second escape. We rushed in through the door once we arrived, soaking wet on the floor as we walked over to the counter. I never let go of her hand, I pulled her with me to get towels from Richard.
"Hey man. Skipping school again?" I just nodded with a small smile. He handed me two towels when he saw Adriana behind me. "Waffles with maple syrup and coffee is on he way. And I'll make that two." He looked past me at Adriana.
I turned to her, finally letting go of her hand and handing her a towel to dry off. "So this is another part of the puzzle?" We sat down and I smiled faintly at her."Part two. If you ever see I'm not at school, or I leave in the middle of the day, you now know where I run off to." She looked around at the diner, admiring the sights of it. "Waffles and coffee. On the house." Richard placed our plates down in front of us and we digged in.
I looked up at Adriana, taking in her features. Her eyes suddenly stopped on mine, like she stopped searching for a life, a soul. That scares me. The way she looks at me.
"What?" She chuckled, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I want to know more about you." I said, stating the facts that I really just want to get to know the parts of her that she hides. "I'm not that interesting Shawn." "Hey, I'm showing you side of me that nobody ever sees. The least you can do is tell me a little bit about yourself." She sat up straight, leaning over to me on the table as she rested with her arms on the edge.
"Do you really want to know?" She asked, doubt in her eyes, wonder. She's surprised that I asked, she's surprised that I'm intrigued in her life. Her story and her past.
I want to fit the pieces together of what makes Adriana... Adriana. She's a masterpiece of a broken soul, a heart dangling on strings to just be together in pieces. "I want to know." I whispered to her as I too, leaned closer to her.
The silent moment was taking over the space between us, and for a second I was doubting if she'll react on my statement.
"Lets just say that at some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening now."
She's a maze. One road leads you either to a point of break, or a dead end. She doesn't want to give me he map to solve her. Whatever she's hiding, is big time.
She might of just experienced more pain than me.
But I want to know.I feel like my hands were made to dry up her tears. Her tears that ran from her eyes way before I walked into her life.
