"Aaaah finally back", you said once you stepped out of your hotel.
You haven't been to New York in 6 years and it felt so good. You left when you were ten years old, after your father sadly died in an accident. Your mom wanted to start new and moved to a different country. Thank God she still had some family in New York and you visited them for the first time in years. Normally they'd always visit you but this year it was different. Your mom even told you she's thinking of maybe moving back here.
Of course you were excited but not only for possibly moving back: you had some friends here and were wondering if they still lived here. In the sewers. You've met the turtles one day while playing in the streets. They wanted to play too and you were so happy to meet someone.
You told your mom you needed some time off to enjoy the city but in reality you went for the sewers. You still knew where the entrance was and immediately headed that way.
The lair looked different, bigger and brighter. But messy as usual. And quiet. Way too quiet.
"Hello?", you said as you entered.
You were careful, nervous, excited. What if they don't remember you? What if they hate you for leaving? What if they're not even alive anymore.
"Anyone there?"
You made just one or two steps, not trying to intrude too much. The longer you've been standing there, the weirder you felt. You already wanted to leave and turned around when you heard something moving.
"Who are you? And how did you find us?", a dark voice said behind you.
You slowly turned around and saw a huge turtle standing there.
Wow they really grew up, you thought.
He was standing in a defensive position, looking at you, up and down, checking every single part of your body. Of course you knew who it was.
"Leo?", you whispered.
He blinked a few times.
"How do you know my name?"
You took a few steps into his direction when a second turtle appeared.
Holy fuck, Raph is huge.
"Answer him", Raph said.
"I-", you started but didn't really know what to say, "you don't remember me do you?"
"You do seem familiar", someone else said.
Mikey.
"I ask you one last time, who are you?", Leo wanted to know, already getting ready to swing his katana.
"(Y/N)", you said.
"(Y/N)?", Leo answered and stopped in his movements.
"THE (Y/N)?", Mikey said, eyes widening.
"The one you've known for 10 years? Yeah", you gave back.
"That's impossible", the fourth and last turtle said.
"Donnie?", you asked.
Since when is he so tall? Wow, I really missed a lot.
No one dared to say a word and you felt extremely uncomfortable. You wanted to stare at them, taking everything in but on the other hand you wanted to leave.
Thank God for Mikey. He walked up to you and hugged you like no tomorrow.
"I missed you", he said, his voice slowly breaking.
"I missed you too. I'm sorry I had to leave", you said.
You've always had a soft spot for that guy, mainly because he brothers always used to make fun of him, even when they were children.
When you broke apart, tears were streaming down Mikey's face. You gently wiped them aways with you thumbs and cupped his face.
"I'm here now okay. I won't leave", you assured him and he smiled.
The next one to greet you was Donnie.
"It's good to see you (Y/N)", he said while hugging you tight.
"Likewise. When did you grow so much?", you asked looking up to him.
He blushed a little and smiled.
"Compared to you everyone is tall, shorty", Raph said.
You turned around to greet the big teddy bear. He was huge but you didn't care. You were so happy to see all of them and that they remembered you.
"Hey, she's mine", Mikey chimed in, "you've been hugging her for way too long bro."
"Shut up Mikey", Raph gave back and released you from his arms.
Last but not least you had to greet Leo.
Goddammit he's gorgeous.
You've always had a crush on him but seeing him now, the brute that he is. Wow. Who would have thought such a small guy could grow into this.
"Leo", you nodded.
"Come here", he said and pulled you close.
It seems like he missed you as much as you missed him. You blushed a little and were happy no one could see that. You could have stayed like this forever but Mikey pulled you away.
"I want to know EVERY SINGLE THING", he said.
You sat down on the couch and explained everything. They were all listening carefully, nodding here and there, completely understanding what happened. When you told them you might move back they were all extremely happy. You couldn't wait to spend more time with them. They were and always will be your family.
