You've been friends with Donnie and his brothers for a while now. You're not dating but both of you felt attracted to each other. You've been spending quite a lot of time at the lair and tonight you were staying over. The couch wasn't the comfiest ever but it did the job. Until you woke up in the middle of the night. Stupid nightmares.
You got up and slowly went to Donnie's room. Walking on your tiptoes, not trying to make a noise. Ninja lived here, they would hear every single move and noise.
You knocked on his door and waited to get a response, which you didn't get. The door opened quickly and without a noise. You peaked in and were surprised to see Donnie actually sleeping. Usually he was in his lab but it seemed like he was tired tonight.
"Donnie?", you whispered.
Everything was still silent. He didn't move at all, though you could hear him breathing. You got a little closer to him, unsure of your next move.
"Donnie?", you asked again this time touching his arm.
Within a second he shot up, turned the light on and looked at you.
"(Y/N)?", he said in a sleepy voice squeezing his eyes cause the light blend him.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you", you said.
"No worries. What is it? Are you okay?"
"Not really ... I had a nightmare. I was wondering if I could sleep here?", you asked, "on the floor."
"Are you crazy? The floor is ice cold", he gave back.
"It's fine. As long as I'm not alone", you said and smiled.
He took a few seconds before replying and then smiled as well.
"The bed is big enough for two, if you don't mind it", he said and blushed.
"Are .. are you sure?", you said.
A bed was definitely so much better than the floor but then again, it was Donnie's bed. You would lay next to him, feel his presence and heat. Donnie nodded and scoot over a bit to make room for you.
"Okay", you shrugged.
It was weird. On one hand the bed was so soft and warm but on the other hand, you were so close to Donnie that you blushed like crazy. You turned around to look at him and saw that he was looking at you too.
"Goodnight (Y/N)", he said quickly and turned the lights off.
"Goodnight Donnie and thank you", you gave back.
"If you don't mind me asking ... what was your nightmare about?"
"Something about the Shredder. But I don't really remember."
Just the word Shredder gave you shivers. Donnie noticed that and got a bit closer to you.
"Hey, it's okay. It was just a dream", he said.
"I know but it felt so real."
"Come here."
He placed his arm underneath your head and waited for you to come closer. You did it but not without hesitation. Yes, you were friends. Yes, friends could cuddle from time to time. But you didn't want to make it awkward.
His plastron was so soft while his strong arms were a little rough. To you it was the perfect combination. He gently patted your head, giving it a little kiss. He then brushed you hair away from your face to give you a peck on the forehead. Donnie's heartbeat felt good underneath your ear and you calmed down a little.
"I'm here. I'll protect you", he said and you noticed how he was drifting back to sleep.
"Thank you", you said and snuggled against him.
You quickly fell asleep, just like Donnie did. You were so happy he was there for you.
