You've never really believed in love. After all you've been hurt too many times. People have broken up with you, always claiming "it's not you, it's me" and "we can be friends". You were used to being hurt and rejected. In fact, when you moved to New York you had no intentions of even meeting someone. But then you saw him. It wasn't love at first sight and you weren't even sure at first if it was even love but whenever you saw him (always with his brothers to not be too obvious) your heart skipped a beat. He was everything you ever wanted. Beautiful, smart, funny. He helped you, held you, listened to you. You didn't care that he was a turtle. Or that he was so much taller than you. Or that he was a mutant. You'd do anything for him and you knew that he'd never let you down either. He was the one who confessed first and you couldn't believe it.
