You were so excited to get back to New York. You missed the city, the people, the food and most importantly you missed the turtles.
You were one of the very few who knew of their existence and you kept that fact secret. They were scared they'd be called freaks or monsters and you did your best to keep them calm. You were very fond of one of them: Donatello.
He was the reason why you actually met them. You got attacked one day and he stepped in to fix you up. He did a good job but you still had a little scar over your eyebrow to always remind you.
You haven't seen them in over a year and missed all of them dearly. You wondered about them almost every single day and wanted to see them ASAP. Of course you and Donnie had texted each other, but it just wasn't the same.
Thank God for the internship you got. School was over and if you did good you might even get a shop after your internship was done. Oh how badly you wanted this.
You wanted to surprise Donnie. So you came up with the brilliant idea of meeting him in front of your favorite pizza place.
"Hey, are they still doing special Tuesdays?!", you texted him.
"Uhm, don't know. Want me to check?", he gave back.
You smiled. Of course they were still doing special Tuesdays. You were standing right in front of the shop. It was late, not much traffic and just a few people went out to get a pizza.
"According to their website, yes they are", he texted.
'Goddamit, Donnie', you thought to yourself and sighed.
You needed another plan to get him out here.
"Can you maybe check it out in person? Just to be sure? If you have time of course"
It took him a while to answer. He was probably contemplating whether to leave the lair or not.
"What if they see me?"
"Just go to that alley right next to it? Remember how that always smelled?"
You laughed at your own joke. Oh how you didn't miss that smell. It was a weird mixture of food, pee and something else. You hoped he would be quick.
"Okay, I'll check it out. Give me ten minutes"
You smiled and got excited. You were going to see him in less than ten minutes. How amazing was that?! You decided to hide a little so that he wouldn't see you immediately.
After a while you heard someone move. You looked up and saw him standing there. He gave the alley a quick look, just to see if he was alone and then jumped down from the roof. As he was facing the street, you decided to jump out behind him. He immediately turned around, his bo staff ready to kick butt.
"Hey", you whispered.
His mouth opened a little as he fully acknowledged you. He blinked a few times and then slowly came closer.
"Y/N?", he whispered as well, not believing that you were actually here.
You just nodded. You tried to hide your excitement but it didn't work well. You just wanted to hug him and tell him how much you missed him.
"Are ... are you real?", he asked.
"As real as it gets, Donnie", you laughed.
He put his bo staff back and came closer to you. Then his walls crumbled. He hugged you and held you as tight as he could. Breathing in your smell, touching your hair. Your hands were wrapped around his shell - as best as you could - and you enjoyed the familiar feeling of being save with him.
"You're really here", he whispered in your ear.
You smiled a little at how adorable he was.
"I missed you", you admitted.
"I missed you too", he answered.
"Well I might stay forever", you said and explained him the situation.
His eyes were glowing with excitement. He wanted to have you close for such a log time and now was finally the day.
"There's something I need to tell you", he said and held your hands.
"What is it Donnie?", you wanted to know.
"I ... uhm ... well", he started and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Hey, don't be nervous, okay?", you encouraged him.
"You know how much you mean to me right?"
You nodded, he meant a lot to you as well. You could talk to him about anything you wanted and he would always listen, vice versa.
"And well, even though you've been away for so long, I feel like nothing has changed between us. In fact my feelings have grown into ... something bigger", he said, the last part being nothing but a whisper.
You could tell how nervous he was. Between the voice cracking and hand holding, you noticed how much he blushed.
"I know you'd never fall in love with someone like me but I .. I am in love with you. And even if you don't feel the same for me, just know that I will always be there for -", he said and you cut him off.
You kissed him. You just had to. You've been wanting to do this forever but weren't sure of his feelings for you.
"I love you too Donnie", you smiled as you broke apart.
"You ... you do?", he stuttered.
"Yes"
"Oh wow", he squealed and you giggled.
He then cupped your face with his large hands and pulled you closer once more. The second kiss was a bit more relaxed, his soft lips caressing yours.
"We need to tell the boys", he said, "oh God the boys. They don't even know I'm gone. And they don't know you're here. Oh God."
"Calm down Donnie", you smiled, "I really want to see them. Let's go."
He held your hand and squeezed it a little. He kept on smiling throughout the whole time. He couldn't wait to tell everyone.
