Chapter Thirty

The next morning

At Jason and Sam's penthouse

In Spoby's bedroom

“Good morning baby girl.” Toby said before kissing the top of her head. “Good morning handsome.” Spencer smiled up at him. “How are you feeling?” Toby asked as he stroked her hair. “I'm alright.” She said giving him a small smile. “You sure?” He asked and she nodded. “As much as I hate to say this, don't you have to go back to work today?” She asked and he nodded. “Yeah, but I can stay here with you if you need me to.” He said but she shook her said. “No Toby that's not necessary, it's really sweet of you but it's not necessary you've already been off work for too long because of me so you go, I'll be alright I promise.” Spencer insisted. “Are you sure? I can stay if you need me to.” Toby said. “I'll be fine I promise.” Spencer said stroking his cheek gently. “Alright, if you're sure.” Toby said and Spencer nodded. “I'll be fine I promise, I have a lot of work to do today anyway.” She said and he reluctantly nodded, he didn't really want to leave her especially after yesterday but she was right he needs to go back to work. “You're right, you'll call me if you need me though right?” He asked and she nodded. “Always.” She said giving him a small smile. “Good, okay I guess I should just get this over with and go get ready for work, do you want to shower with me?” He asked. “I would love to, but I should really just get dressed and head upstairs to get started on work with my mom and I know that if I shower with you I would never let you leave.” Spencer said laughing a little. “That's understandable.” Toby said also laughing and then he kissed her passionately and then reluctantly pulled himself away from her and got out of bed and went to go shower and Spencer pulled herself out of bed and got herself dressed and then she went upstairs to get started on work with her mom.

Upstairs

“Hey Mom.” Spencer said walking over to where Sam was sitting on the couch. “Hey Spence, how are you feeling today?” Sam asked as Spencer sat on the couch next to her. “I'm better.” Spencer said and Sam nodded. “Good, so Toby's going back to work today, how do you feel about that?” Sam asked. “I'll be fine, I just have to throw myself back into my work.” Spencer said and Sam nodded. “Good I'm glad.” Sam said.
“And I wanna start by going back to helping Nelle clear her name in Zack's death.” Spencer said with determination in her voice.

Ten minutes later

Sam and Spencer we're still on the couch going over case files when Toby came upstairs ready for work and he walked over to Spencer and kissed the top of her head and she looked up at him and smiled and then kissed him on the lips passionately.
“You be careful okay?” Spencer said. “Babe you're the PI here and I'm just a carpenter, I should be the one telling you to be careful.” Toby said  playing with her hair. “I’ll be careful I promise, I always am you know that Tobes.” Spencer said giving him a small smile. “Yeah she knows what she's doing.” Sam said smiling at her daughter. “Tobes you really should get going if you don't want to be late your first day back at work.” Spencer said trying to hide the sadness in her voice but of course she can never hide anything from Toby and he immediately bent down to her level as she was still sitting on the couch and he wrapped his arms around her and she threw her arms around him and buried her head in his chest. “Hey I'll be back before you know it, I'll be alright Spence I promise, nothing is going to happen to me.” He said trying to comfort her and she just nodded her head against his chest. “I love you.” She said not wanting to let go of him. “I love you too baby girl.” Toby said kissing the top of her head and then after another minute he reluctantly pulled himself away from her and he walked to the door and he looked back over at her one last time before leaving the penthouse.
