Chapter Eighty Eight

The Next Day

At Kelly's

Toby had just walked in the door and he spotted Chase sitting in one of the stools at the counter so he walked over to him.

“Hey there stranger.” Toby said and Chase turned around and smiled at him. “Hey man.” He said. “I see you had to stop for a little coffee before you go to the station.” Toby said and Chase nodded before taking another sip of his coffee. “Yeah, what brings you here this morning? I'm surprised you're not still curled up in bed with your wife.” Chase said and Toby smiled softly. “Well I probably would've been, but she decided to get an early start on work this morning.” He said and Chase nodded. “So she's still working?” He asked and Toby nodded. “She's trying to do as much more as she can before Marion gets here, which I can understand because you know how much she loves her job and she hates not working but I just still get worried that she's going to push herself too much.” Toby said. “Well of course you do, because you love her.” Chase said. “Yeah do.” Toby said. “Well Spence is a smart woman, and plus she works with her Mom and I know that Sam wouldn't let her do more than she should.” Chase said and Toby nodded. “Yeah I know.” He said. “So how are you feeling? Ready for Fatherhood?” Chase asked curiously and Toby nodded. “Yeah I really am.” He said as a small smile speed across this face. “Well I have no doubt that Marion is going to be one lucky baby.” Chase said. “Well thanks man I appreciate that.” Toby said. “Of course, and you know that Ali and I will gladly be available to babysit whenever you need us to.” Chase said. “We know, and thank you.” Toby said and Chase nodded. “No problem.”

At GH

“So, how're things going with that detective Friday end of yours?” Amy asked and Ali smiled happily. “We're good, it's hard to believe that it's almost been a year.” She said. “I know, and that Spencer was finally able to convince you to tell him your feelings.” Amy said and Ali laughed. “Yeah I really owe her for that.” She said. “Yeah I think you do.” Amy said. “Oh yeah I meant to ask you, how's Chet doing?” Ali asked. “He's good, he's actually trying to find a job to stay close to me here in Port Charles.” Amy said smiling. “Well that's great that he'll be sticking around.” Ali said and Amy nodded. “Yeah, it's been nice having family around.” She said. “And I'm sure he likes being around his sister.” Ali said. “Well most of the time yeah.” She said and they both laughed.

“Hey you two.” Kiki said walking over. “Hey, where have you been? I thought your break ended ten minutes ago?” Ali asked and Kiki was trying to hide the smile from her face.

“Were you making out with a certain handsome doctor in the janitors closet or something?” Amy said smirking and Kiki blushed and Ali and Amy laughed. “Well that day doesn't surprise me.” Ali said. “Okay okay can we change the subject back to work please?” Kiki asked. “Yeah sure.” Ali said. “Thank you.” Kiki said.

“Of course, but seriously y'all are cute.” Amy said and Kiki laughed. “Well thank you.” She said. “No problem.” Amy said and then the three of them went back to organizing patient files.

At Jason and Sam's Penthouse

“You know I really find this very therapeutic sometimes for some reason.” Spencer said and Sam looked at her. “Organizing case files?” She asked and her daughter nodded. “Yeah, I don't really know why either but it does.” She said. “Well alright then, you sure you're doing okay? Because if you need to take a break it's totally fine.” Sam said but of course Spencer shook her head. “I'm fine Mom I promise.” She said. “Okay okay, I'll drop it.” Sam said. “Thank you.” Spencer said. “Just know that I'm here if you need to talk about anything.” Sam said. “Of course I know that, and as a matter of fact I did want to ask you how you were holding up with everything going on.” Spencer said. “I'm doing okay I guess.” Sam said. “Mom you can be honest with me, I know you're worried about whatever it is that Shiloh has up his sleeve.” Spencer said and Sam sighed. “Alright maybe a little, but I won't let him have any control over me.” She said. “That's good, but also just remember to try not to stress yourself too much over this.” Spencer said with concern in her voice. “And now you sound like me talking to you.” Sam said and they both laughed softly.
