Chapter One Hundred and Six

"Your dad? That's your dad?" Spencer asked with surprise in her voice and Toby nodded. "Yeah, that would be Daniel Cavanaugh." He said and Jason looked behind him to see the man that they were talking about and so did Sam. "So what're you going to do?" Spencer asked. "You stay right here, I need to go deal with him." Toby said. "Are you sure you don't want me to go over there with you?" Spencer asked. "This is something that I need to do on my own, I'll be fine." Toby said. "Okay, but just remember that I'm right over here." Spencer said and he nodded. "I know and I love you for that, but I need to do this." He said. "I know, and I get that, I'll be right here when you come back." Spencer said and he smiled softly at her before kissing her. "Okay I'll be right back." Toby said as he stood up and then he took a deep breath before walking across the room to where his father was standing.

"What the heck are you doing here??" Toby asked him with aggravation in his voice. 

"Hello Toby." Daniel said as he took a step closer to him. "How's that hooker wife of yours?" Toby asked him sarcastically because he obviously wasn't interested. "Sylvia is not a hooker." Daniel said. "Oh really? Then what do you call a woman who sleeps with other men for money?" Toby asked him as he raised his eyebrow and Daniel said nothing. "Yeah that's what I thought." Toby said. (THIS 😂😂😂😂)

"Toby you know that I loved your mom." Daniel said. "You never answered my question, why are you here?" Toby asked completely ignoring what he just said. "Isn't it obvious? I came to see you Son." Daniel said and Toby scoffed. "Yeah right, since when do you care about me? I have been doing just fine without you." Toby said. "Oh have you? Well I heard that you got married to that girl." Daniel said and Toby tried to hold back his anger. "Her name is Spencer, and not that's it any of your business but yes we got married last year." Toby said. "You know that I warned you about getting involved with her, she's the Daughter of a mobster." Daniel said and Toby got angrier. 

"Spencer has nothing to do with that, she's a Private Investigator." Toby said trying to resist his anger that was slowly boiling up inside him at the moment. "Of course you still see it that way." Daniel said. "What's that supposed to mean?" Toby asked raising his eyebrow. "You know exactly what it means." Daniel said. "You know what? I don't care, just leave because tonight is an important night and I don't have time to deal with you." Toby said as she turned to walk away but Daniel stopped him by putting his hand on his arm. "You better get your hand off me." Toby snapped at him and he removed his hand. "I cared about your mom, and you." Daniel said and Toby scoffed. "Yeah well you had a funny way of showing it, basically abandoning me after she died and and telling me not to be with the one person in the world who actually cared about what happened to me!" Toby exclaimed as he raised his voice a little but none of the other guests seemed to notice. "You think that she really cares about you, she's going to end up getting you killed, her and that Father of hers." Daniel said and Toby had to resist the urge to punch him right there. "I'm only going to say this one more time, you need to leave before I make you regret coming here because I don't need you, I have Jason." Toby said. "Oh so you've just replaced me with that enforcer?" Daniel asked. "Alleged enforcer, and he's been more of a Father to me than you ever were!" Toby angrily spat at him and then before Daniel could even respond Jason walked over.

"You need to leave, now." Jason said sternly and Daniel just laughs softly. "Oh look it's the enforcer." He said as Toby clenched his fist in anger. "I don't like to repeat myself, I said you need to leave." Jason said as he got in Daniel's face. "Not that it's any of your business but I'm trying to have a conversation with my son." Daniel said and that really set him off." You don't have the right to call him your son, you abandoned him and even when you were still in town you were never at home with him, and now all of a sudden you show up eight years later out of the blue trying to pretend like you actually care about him?! And don't you ever talk about my daughter like that again, Toby is the best thing that ever happened to her and they make each other happy, now you can think what you want about me but I have been more of a Father to him than you ever were because I actually care about him and we're trying to have a good time tonight for a good cause and you're not wanted here." Jason said angrily. "Fine I'll go, but this isn't over Toby." Daniel said before leaving the ballroom and Toby turned to Jason. "You didn't have to do that, but thank you." He said and Jason shook his head. "You don't need to thank me, let's get back to our girls." Jason said and Toby nodded as they walked back to their table where Sam and Spencer were waiting for them.
