The Next Morning

At Spoby's House

In Their Bedroom

Spencer lying in bed, wide awake, watching Toby sleep, she was able to get some sleep, but of course she was worried about Toby because she knew that it took him a while to fall asleep last night, with trying to process the whole Ruby situation.

A few minutes later, Toby started to shake a little bit in his sleep, Spencer immediately knew that he was having a nightmare and she sat up in the bed. "Tobes? Toby baby open your eyes." She said softly, she hated seeing him in pain. "N-no... please no... Ruby, stop." Toby cried out as he whimpered in his sleep and Spencer teared up a little. "Tobes it's me, it's Spence. Open your eyes baby." She said as she squeezed his hand comfortingly, trying to wake him up, which didn't work so she gently tried to shake him awake, finally Toby abruptly sat up, breathing heavily.

"Hey, hey. It's okay. You're safe, I'm right here." Spencer said as she ran her hand through his hair comfortingly. "I-I know, and I love you so much for that." Toby said as he smiled slightly at her. "And I love you so much, I want you to know that I'm not going anywhere." Spencer said as she stroked his cheek gently. "I know, I-I just hate this, I mean... It's been a little over two years now, I had gotten to the point where I wasn't really having that many nightmares about what happened... and now she's trying to get out of Pentonville a-and it's like it all came rushing back." Toby said before looking down, Spencer grabbed his hand and gave it a comforting squeeze. "I know, and I am so sorry, I wish that there was more that I could do for you." She said as she gave him a sympathetic smile. "Spence, you don't have to apologize, none of this is your fault, the only people to blame for my nightmares are Valentin and Ruby." Toby said. "I know, but still I.... I just wish there was something else I could've done, that I could've gotten you out of that place sooner..." Spencer said. "Spencer, don't do that. Please don't blame yourself, we've been over this. What matters is that I'm home with you and our daughter and I'm safe." Toby said and Spencer sighed softly before nodding her head. "Yeah, you're right, I'm sorry." She said. "You don't have to be sorry for anything, you know that." Toby said as he smiled softly at her, she smiled back at him.

"Maybe you should stay home from work today, and I'll let my mom know what's going on and tell her I can't meet with her later about a potential client." Spencer said, but Toby shook his head. "No. I appreciate that babe, but I don't want you stalling from work on my account." He said. "Tobes, I love you so don't take this the wrong way, but don't be ridiculous. It's totally okay for us to take a family day, just let me help you through this, we're a team." Spencer said and he smirked softly at her. "Point taken. Okay, I mean under the circumstances I'm sure that my boss wouldn't mind me not coming in today, and if you want to stay with me I'm not going to stop you, not like I'd be able to anyway." He said and Spencer laughed. "Yeah, you wouldn't have been able to anyway, and thank you." She said before kissing his forehead. "So, what should we do today? Do you just want to lay low here?" Toby asked her. "Whatever you want to do, what do you need me to do to help you get through this?" Spencer said and he thought for a few seconds. "Well, so you think that you could maybe massage my shoulders?" He asked her and she smiled softly and nodded.

"Yeah, yes of course. Like I just said, whatever you need." She said and he smiled softly at her. "Thanks." He said. "Hey, you don't need to thank me either, you know that." Spencer said and Toby playfully rolled his eyes, Spencer smiled softly at him before he turned around and she started to massage his shoulders.

"How's this?" She asked him. "Perfect, thank you baby girl." Toby said and Spencer smiled.

"Of course, whatever you need." She said before kissing his neck softly. "This is just what I needed." He said. "Good, I'm glad that I'm able to make you feel better." Spencer said. "You always do, you know that." Toby said.
