Chapter One Hundred and Twenty Six

A Week Later

At Spoby's House

"Okay I think that this moment might be one of the cutest things ever." Spencer said as she put another spoonful of mashed bananas into Marion's mouth, who was sitting in her highchair in the kitchen. "Yeah, she really seems to like bananas, which is a good thing." Toby said smiling softly as he watched them. "Yeah, although I think Maggs was waiting for her to spill stuff on the floor." Spencer said referring to Maggie who was lying on the floor next to the highchair and Toby laughed. "She just wants some of the attention, and maybe a little bit of the food." He said and Spencer smiled at him before looking down at the floor. "What is it?" Toby asked her and she looked up at him. "Do you really have to go back to work today?" Spencer asked him with her puppy dog eyes. "Don't look at me like that, I know that this isn't going to be easy but it'll be okay." Toby said and Spencer nodded. "I know, I just got selfishly used to you being here all the time." She said sighing and he walked closer to her and put his hands on her shoulder comfortingly. "I'll be back before you know it." He promised her. "You promise?" Spencer said. "I promise, you won't even have time to miss me." Toby said. "Yeah well you haven't even left yet and I already miss you, not to mention I don't think our little princess is going to be happy about this either." Spencer said looking back at Marion. "I don't want to be away from you guys either, I just hope that she doesn't start talking while I'm not here." Toby said. "I know, I've been worried about that too." Spencer said looking at him and then Marion babbled and Spencer looked at her again. "What is it baby girl?" Spencer asked her and She babbled again and reached her little arms out towards Toby. "I think she wants you to hold her, you still have some time right?" Spencer asked him. "I always have time for my favorite girls, you know that." Toby said before lifting Marion out of her highchair and Spencer smiled  as Marion clung onto Toby and he kissed her forehead. "You be good for your mommy okay Daddy will be back later, I love you Marion Lila." Toby said smiling at his daughter who babbled and smiled back at him. "You know that she loves you too." Spencer said. "I do, and I know that you two will be  okay while I'm gone." Toby said and Maggie barked. "Yeah, because we have a good guard dog." Spencer said laughing as she bent down to pet Maggie. "Well of course that, but I meant that I know that you will be okay because this will give you some Mommy and Daughter time." Toby said. "Well we'll see how that goes, I may see if Serena wants to come over and visit for awhile, it would be nice to have an extra distraction." Spencer said looking up at him. "Just keep reminding yourself that I am coming back to you and our little family." Toby said smiling softly at her and she smiled back at him as she stood up from the floor. "I know, promise me that you will be careful." She said. "I always am, there's nothing to worry about, it's not like I'm a cop or anything. (Y'all I had to 😂😂😂😂 I almost made him be a cop in this because I love me some Officer Toby, but I ultimately decided to just keep him as a Carpenter but I thought this would be a funny joke, okay back to the chapter lol.) "I know, but you know what I mean." Spencer said and he nodded. "Yeah I do, don't worry I'll be fine, speaking of being careful, when are you getting back to work?" He asked her. "Well considering that my mom's on maternity leave right now and I promised I would get back to work and try to keep up with the cases while she's home with Phoenix, probably before too long, and like you said before we will make our schedules work." Spencer said. "Yeah we will," Toby said before looking back at Marion who was still smiling at him and Spencer smiled go herself, he was so good with their daughter and she was very nervous about how she's going to react when he goes to leave for work.

"Okay, I think I should probably get to work because if I don't leave now I don't think I will." Toby said and Spencer nodded. "Yeah you're probably right." She said and Marion babbled as she reached up to touch Toby's cheek and he smiled and kissed her forehead gently. "Okay baby girl, Daddy has to go to work now, I'll be back later, I love you so much, I'm going to give you to your mommy now okay?" Toby said before kissing Marion's forehead again and then he handed her to Spencer and took her into her arms. "We love you Tobes." Spencer said smiling softly at him. "I love you more." Toby said smiling back at her before kissing her and she kissed him back. "Okay I'll see you when I get back I love you." Toby said before kissing her forehead and then he kissed Marion's forehead again and she babbled. "We love you too." Spencer said and he kissed her again before heading to the front door and then he went outside to his truck to head to work and Spencer turned her attention back to Marion. "Daddy will be back later baby girl, don't worry." She said before kissing her daughter's forehead gently.
