Chapter Fifty Six

Several Weeks Later

At The Metro Court

"Do we think she's going to show up?" Hanna asked curiously. "I wouldn't be surprised if she just blew us off again." Aria said. "Well can you blame her? It's been weeks and the PCPD still have no idea where Valentin is keeping Toby." Emily said before looking down at her hands. "Are we even sure he's still alive?" Hanna asked and the girls gave her a look. "Don't talk like that, specially if Spence does show up she doesn't need to hear that." Ali said and Hanna looked down. "He's alive okay I know he is." Emily said with hope in her voice.
"Hey guys, sorry I'm late." They all turned their heads to see Spencer stepping off the elevator and walking over to their table.

She was still wearing Toby's leather jacket and the necklace he'd given her years ago, and the dark circles under her eyes had gotten even worse than the last time they saw her, and her skin almost looked as white as a ghost, she almost looked haunted.

"Hey you came, we were thinking you weren't going to be able to make it." Aria said getting up to give her a hug. "Yeah sorry about that I was taking care of some things." Spencer said blankly as she sat down in her chair. "How are you?" Ali said gently.
"I've had better days." She said weakly before picking up her fork and picking at the salad they'd ordered for her.
"I wish there was more we could do." Emily said and Spencer shook her head. "There's nothing you guys can do, Toby is still missing and nothing is going to change
that." Spencer said, her voice cracking at the end. "Spence you just have to stay positive." Aria said gently. "What so you think I've been doing?! I'm probably the only one that believes he's still alive, right Hanna?" Spencer said glaring at Hanna who didn't say anything. "That's what I thought." Spencer said before starting to get up and Emily grabbed her hand gently. "Spence stop, you're not the only one okay I still think he's alive, and so does everyone else, Hanna is just being paranoid, don't go." Emily said and Spencer took a deep breath and then nodded and she sat back in her seat and stared at her salad again and Emily gave Hanna a death glare not to say anything else to upset Spencer any further.

At Jason and Sam's penthouse

"Jason I'm not sure what to think anymore." Sam said as she sat on the couch petting Maggie. "Me either, I'm trying not to give up hope but I have no idea where Valentin is keeping Toby." Jason said. "He hasn't reached out to you at all trying to get money out of you?" Sam asked and Jason shook his head. "No and I thought he would've by now, I just don't know what to do Sam." Jason said. "I know what you mean, when Spencer left this morning, it's like I don't even recognize her anymore, she's been trying so hard to stay strong through this but I think that if we don't find Toby soon she's going to fully break down and we're not going to be able to fix her." Sam said before looking down and Jason out his hand on his wife's shoulder comfortingly. "Let's hope that doesn't happen, I'm going to find him Sam I promise." Jason said and Sam nodded.

At The PCPD

"Yes we are still looking for Valentin and Toby, and this is still Chase's top priority right now, he's not giving up on Toby and neither are we, I'll call you if we find anything, bye Sonny." Anna said as she hung up her office phone and then there was a knock at the door. "Come in!" Anna said as she continued to stare at Toby's case file.

"Hey commissioner." Chase said as he walked into the office and Anna looked up at him. "Hi Chase, listen you've been working really hard on trying to find Toby why don't you take a little break?" Anna asked and Chase shook his head. "Not going to happen. I'm not letting Spence or Toby down, I'm not going to stop looking until Toby is home safe and Valentin is back rotting in prison where he belongs." Chase said with determination in his voice and Anna nodded. "I understand." She said. "Thank you." Chase said. "What did you want to talk with me about?" Anna asked.
"I just wanted to let you know I'm going to be going out with another search party outside of town, we have to check every possible area, He could be anywhere." Chase said and Anna nodded.
