Chapter Forty Eight

A week later

At Spoby's house

Spencer was sitting on the couch in the living room working hard on her laptop and Maddie was laying on the floor at her feet when Toby, who had just woken up, came downstairs.

“Babe what are you doing up so early?” He asked before yawning as he walked over to her. “I'm sorry Tobes I didn't mean to wake you.” Spencer said not even looking up at him like she normally would. “Well it didn't take me very long to notice that my beautiful wife was no longer in bed with me.” Toby said as he sat down on the couch next to her but she still was focused on her laptop and Toby let out a sigh. “Spence what are you doing?” He asked gently. “Going over this one case that I need to go undercover for.” Spencer replied but she still didn't look at him and that worried him, she's been drowning herself in work lately and he just wants her to slow down. “Spence it's 5AM, you need more sleep, come back to bed with me.” Toby said before gently placing his hand on top of hers and then she finally looked over at him and gave him a small smile. “Look I appreciate how much you care about me and our baby, but I'm fine, we're fine Tobes.” She insisted but Toby shook his head. “Spence you're not fine, you're working yourself too hard.” He said.

“Toby really I'm fine, besides it's still early in the pregnancy I don't need to be cautious with my work schedule yet.” She said.
“But Spence you're still way overworking yourself okay you need to take a break.” Toby said but she shook her head. “I don't need to sleep.” She said. “Yes baby you do, come back upstairs with me please, you can finish this later.” He calmly pleaded and finally Spencer gave in. “Fine you win, I'll come back to bed.” She said and he smiled. “Thank you.” He said and then Spencer finally closed her laptop and Toby gently picked her up off the couch and carried her back upstairs and set her on their bed gently and then he climbed into bed next to her and she snuggled up next to him and she rested her head on his chest and he kissed the top of her head.

A few hours later

At GH

“So how are you doing?” Elizabeth asked Kiki as she stood at the nurse's station with Aria. “I'm doing okay, just nervous about the trial.” Kiki said. “Well you don't need to be nervous because you're going to kick his butt.” Aria said making Kiki laugh.
“Well thank you for that but I'm still not feeling very confident about winning this thing.” Kiki said shrugging. “Kiki everything is going to be okay Bensch is going to get what he deserves.” Elizabeth said. “She’s right Kiki, and I'm not just saying that because she's my Mom,” Aria said laughing.
“But Bensch is absolutely going to get what he deserves, and you have everyone on your side, me, the girls, Griffin just to name a few.” Aria said giving Kiki a small smile and she smiled back at her. “Thanks Aria, I really needed that.” Kiki said. “You're welcome.” Aria said. “So where is Griffin?” Elizabeth asked curiously. “He's in surgery right now.” Kiki said and Elizabeth and Aria nodded. “And Ali?” Aria asked.
“She's checking on some patients.” Kiki said and Aria nodded. “Well I guess we should probably get back to work we just wanted to see how you were holding up.” Aria said. “And you have no idea how much I appreciate that, thanks again.” Kiki said before giving Aria a hug and then she gave Elizabeth a quick hug before they went back to work leaving Kiki alone at the nurse's station to finish organizing files.

At the PCPD

“Hey Dante, can we talk for a minute?” Chase asked walking over to him.

“Yeah sure Chase, what's up?” Dante asked.

“Well I would really like to surprise your daughter tonight, basically a special date night.” Chase said. “Well I think that's a very sweet thing of you to do Chase.” Dante said. “Well I only want to do the best for her, do you think that Lulu would let me rent out the Haunted Star for tonight?” Chase asked.
“Well considering you're doing this for our daughter I don't see how she would have a problem with it.” Dante said and Chase nodded. “Okay good because I just want this night to be special for Alison.” Chase said.
“Well knowing how much you love my daughter I don't think you'll have any trouble showing her tonight.” Dante said.
“I will always take good care of her Dante you never have to doubt that.” Chase said and Dante nodded. “Well I'm glad to hear that Chase, just don't have too much fun tonight okay?” Dante said and Chase laughed. “We'll try our best.” He said.
“Okay we should probably get back to work now.” Dante said and Chase nodded. “Yeah you're right, thanks for taking the time to talk with me.” He said and Dante nodded.
“No problem.” He said and then they both went back to work.
