Brian

I walked upstairs to the bedroom, exhausted. Everyone had finally went home, the girls were sleeping. I just wanted to dive head first into the bed. Katherine wasn't in bed, though. I walked to the bathroom. She had candles lit and was lounging in the big bathtub on the other side of the bathroom.

"Come join me." She offered.

I walked over to the edge of the tub and sat. I looked at her for a moment.

"I'm really tired, baby." I whispered.

She frowned slowly. "You've never turned me down before."

"It's not you. I'm just really tired." I replied.

"Just when I thought we got our sex drive back."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked.

"Brian, besides our moment in London, you haven't touched me since I told you I was pregnant." She crosses her arms.

"So you're telling me I can't take a night off?" I squinted my eyes.

"Don't sit here and blame it on exhaustion. I know you. I know what's going on in that little brain of yours."

"Please, tell me." I looked at her.

"It's seeing your friends from Miami. It's you yearning for your youth where you raced and was popular. You wished you never got caught, forced back into police work and then lit the match on your career. See because once the FBI got ahold of you, you gained knowledge. Not only did you have that lust for racing but you were an agent. And then Dom came back in the picture which immediately drew you into the criminal life and then Nobody found you. And then I met you and I abandoned you, I tormented your dreams...we fell back in love and we got married. And then we had children. And then I became a leader."

"Your point?" I rolled my eyes. "Because that whole speech has nothing to do with anything."

"You wish you would've never got back in the business, Brian. It's always been in the back of your mind but seeing your friends deepened it."

"You invited them." I pointed out.

"Because you missed them. By the way, I saw Suki hug you. Next time I see her-"

"I'm so not doing this tonight, Katherine." I stood.

"I'm not done talking to you." Katherine called after me.

"Well I am." I waved my hand and shut the door behind me.

She was right. I do constantly think about how simple life used to be. How I got the adrenaline from racing and just living life. But I'm happy now. And it's not fair to just completely try and find reasons to hate my life. So I took off my clothes and joined Katherine in the bathroom.

"I thought you were beyond exhausted." Katherine smirked.

"Shut up, Katherine." I groaned. "For once, be quiet."

I had my eyes closed but I can still steel her smirk.

I miss the days when I was in high school, eating pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I miss the parties. But you gotta grow up sometime. 🤷🏼‍♀️
