Fight or Flight: Why Not Both?

While you and Joseph ran, he tossed you the Red Stone of Aja. Startled by having the object thrown at you so suddenly, you almost dropped it.

"What the heck JoJo?!"

He glanced back at you for a moment as he continued with his sprinting, "Sorry! I just didn't want to hold onto it anymore!"

You grumbled under your breath as you tightened your grip on the Stone. You weren't even sure how useful it would be against the ultimate being, but you assumed Joseph had some sort of crazy plan that would somehow save the day.

You could hear Kars behind you, letting out some sort of amused screech. You glanced behind you to see some sort of claw like think protrude from his hand. His arms then became covered with dark feathers. You also realized that Smokey was following you and Joseph.

"Hamon warriors mean nothing to me now! But you... I must avenge Wamuu and Esidisi, but I must also celebrate my rebirth! I must, JoJo... I must murder you now!" He spread his new wings out and took flight.

You quickly shifted your gaze so you were looking in the direction you were running. "Oh sweet JoJo Christ! I never thought I'd be running for my life from a bird man!" You began to pick up the speed.

Smokey hadn't look behind before, but he did now. He was incredibly terrified of the sight of Kars flying towards the three of you, "He's catching up!"

"Quiet!" Shouted Joseph. "I'm trying to come up with something! So keep it down!"

Joseph jumped over the bearing ledge with you and Smokey not far behind. You quickly skidded down the slope, leaving a trail of dust behind you.

Smokey kept glancing back, "He's coming! Hurry!" You made it to flat ground again and continued running.

Joseph tilted his head slightly to look behind him, "Hey, Smokey! I know you're running as fast as you can, but you don't seem to be getting it. Listen! You don't have to stick with us and run like this! He's after me! He wants to kill me as some rite of passage or something! As for (Y/N), I'm pretty sure he just has the hots for her!"

You furrowed your eyebrows, knowing Kars certainly was intent on getting you. Especially since he was no longer in search of the Stone. "Yeah, something like that."

Joseph let out a nervous laugh, "Heck, maybe he just wants to give her his wedding ring of death! He probably has one somewhere."

Smokey's eyes widened a bit, "JoJo, there's something I've got to tell you! That woman, Lisa Lisa... She's your..."

You let out a squeak when Kars began to close in. "Now's not really the time, Smokey!"

Joseph began to speed up, "He's here! He's here!"

You mentally slapped yourself for looking behind you so often and looked forward once more, staying right behind the Joestar, "Nononononono!"

"Smokey! Your stop is here! We can talk later!" Shouted Joseph as the three of you neared yet another ledge.

Smokey slowed down, a worried expression on his face as you and Joseph hopped down, "JoJo! (Y/N)!"

Your eyes widened at the sight of the plane in front of you. How had Joseph known it was here?

The Joestar slammed open the doors, "Quick! Get inside!" You nodded and hopped into the passenger seat as he took the wheel. He quickly started it up and took off into the sky. Outside the window you cloud see the shocked and angry face of Kars. Did he even know what a plane was? "Let's see whose stronger, Kars!"

You gave the Joseph a questioning look, "Hey, JoJo. How do you know how to fly a plane?"

He shrugged as he focused on flying, "I just do, okay?"
