Without bothering to elaborate on his plan, Kakyoin started to swing between building using Hierophant Green. Joseph did the same but with Hermit Purple. Kars took form in front of you and crouched down so you could climb onto his back. He then created a Kangaroo pouch of sorts and placed Iggy inside. With a flap of his wings he sped on after the others. The dog's tongue lolled out of its mouth as the wind blew past. You could make out the form of Dio as he followed after you from several meters away. He didn't seem to be in too much of a rush to slaughter all of your companions.
Kakyoin swung onto a small platform near a clock tower. He ushered for you, Joseph, and Iggy to maintain your distance as his Stand began to spread all around the area in thin strands that were barely noticeable even if you knew where to look for them.
Kars' voice rang through your mind, "Stay close to the one you call Noriaki. He is the one attacking, so the most likely outcome is that he'll be the one receiving the brunt of Dio's attack." Explained the ultimate being. "You want him to live, right?" You nodded. "Then stay close to him, and I'll do what I can to anticipate the vampire's actions." You gave Kars a curious look as he set Iggy down next to Joseph. You had never really expected him of all people to suggest such a thing. You took a leap next to Kakyoin.
The high school student gave you a worried look as he put his hand on your shoulder, "(Y/N), you should keep your distance. I don't want you getting hurt."
You grabbed his sleeve, "It'll be fine if I get hurt, you know that. I'm much more worried about you. It's not that I doubt your abilities, but Dio is unlike anyone you've faced before and a little extra protection never hurt anyone. You don't need to do this alone."
He gave a sad smile as he cupped your face with one hand, "That's right. I'm not alone. Not anymore."
Your focus shifted as Dio approached closer. He went to land on a nearby building but ended up landing right on a part of Hierophant, triggering an Emerald Splash from a multitude of directions. The vampire was quick to block them with his arms, not even bothering to use his Stand. His movements became faster and angrier with each attack. He gave an annoyed 'tch' when one managed to rip a hole through his red cloak.
Then his movements suddenly came to a stop with one leg still raised after having kicked with it. "This is..."
"That's right!" Shouted Kakyoin. "Hierophant's barrier, which activates when touched, completely surrounds you for twenty meters in every direction! Now I can sense both your movements and The World's!" Dio gave a brief chuckle as he set his foot back down. There was a moment of vocal silence as a billboard broke and toppled down to the streets below, "Take this, Dio! Twenty meter radius Emerald Splash!" Emeralds began to shoot towards Dio from every angle.
"You fool." Ridiculed Dio, "You know the power of my Stand, yet this is the best you could come up with?" The vampire pointed his finger at the two of you as his yellow Stand took form next to its user. At the same point in time, Kars moved himself in front of Kakyoin, positioning himself with his arms in an a defensive x. "The World!"
There was a puff of smoke as the attack hit the center with a crash. Your Stand had met a similar fate as it had before, with the image of Kars gone and a gaping hole in its stomach as it was flung towards a water tower. Since Kakyoin was behind your Stand, he was forced in the same direction upon collision. Your Stand faded away once it got too far and left Kakyoin alone in the now broken water tower with the clear liquid gushing out. The force of such an attack likely would've knocked you back as well, if not for Dio's tight grip around your wrist.
"Kakyoin!"
"Noriaki!"
You and Joseph cried out his name. The high school student managed to push himself out of the indentation made in the water tower. His back probably hurt a lot, and several bones may have been broken. But from your position nothing struck you as fatal.
The World held Kars' hat tightly in its two hands before tearing it into several pieces, letting them flutter to the ground. You barely managed to grasp a single scrap.
"And what exactly do you plan to do with that? Putting a mere piece won't do anything." Cooed Dio and you noticed that he seemed to have discarded his cloak during his frozen time.
"And how could you possibly know that?" You spat a question back at him.
He touched his lower lip with his pointer finger in thought, "Well, when I forced information out of one of those little Speedwagon foundation members, they told of how you were searching for a spider. One that had a rather useful Stand ability. Intrigued, I did a little searching through some of my servants and happened across some results. What did she call herself? Kiaria? Well, she was happy to tell me everything I wanted to know about your Stand. Now, dare I say, I know it better than even you."
You stomped down on his foot as you attempted to push off of him, a bit surprised when he just let go of your wrist. This made you stumble back a bit before you immediately jumped over to Kakyoin. All around you, the strands of Hierophant Green were beginning to fade away, all of them seeming to have been severed during Dio's time stop.
You started to pry Kakyoin out of the water tower. Some of the bent up metal seemed to have jabbed into his back, so you were careful to not injure him any more than he already was, "Noriaki, can you hear me? Are you alright?!"
Kakyoin's features bore a pained expression before his eyelids fluttered open. "Five seconds... With his vampiric speed I estimate it'd take around five seconds to cut them all and still land an attack on your Stand..."
You gasped, "Then... do you think that's his limit?"
He nodded numbly before coughing out some blood, "I-I think that if he had the time to he would've done more, and actually kill me or Mr. Joestar. And... I'm not sure how much I can help anymore..."
You wrapped your arms around him in a comforting embrace. "You've done well, Noriaki. You've done well."
Dio's voice interrupted your conversation as the vampire stared down the Joestar, "Joseph... You're next." He tugged down the collar of his shirt to show off his neck scar, "Don't you think taking the blood of a Joestar would be just the thing to make Jonathan's body completely mine?"
"Dio!" Yelled Joseph, "How dare you do that to Kakyoin!" His eyes scanned the stolen figure of Jonathan, "I'll take that body back, for my Grandma Erina!"
"Erina? Ah, that country girl. How foolish." Dio let go of his own shirt, "I shall drink your blood and kill you." He dove towards the elderly man, "Joseph Joestar! Die!"
"Take this!" Shouted Joseph as he had Hermit purple wrap around Dio. "The sun's own energy, Hamon!" The Ripple began to course through the vine-like Stand.
"You old fool!" Mocked Dio. "Your Stand is the weakest of all!" He spread his arms and broke through the purple vines. Joseph picked up Iggy in one hand and dove off the building while starting to use his Stand to swing through the buildings once more. Dio followed after him, "I won't let you get away!"
You began to stand up to rejoin the fight, at least happy at the fact it was being led away from the injured high school student. Kakyoin's eyes started to water as he barely managed to grab the corner of your sleeve. "(Y/N)... please don't leave me here alone... I-I can still fight!" He tried to stand up only to stumble back to the ground.
You crouched down next to him in the puddle of water, and grasped his hand, "Noriaki, I swear on the souls of everyone I have ever cared for that I will come back for you. This will not be the last time we see each other, and we will defeat Dio." You wiped away his tears and smiled. "I promise."
He gave a small laugh which only resulted in him hacking up more blood, "I'll hold you to that, then. We still have to visit Tiger Balm garden together, anyways..." He started to stare off into the distance and seemed to struggle to keep his eyes open, "And my parents, I'm sure they'd like you. They don't even know why I left, but I think they'd be happy that I finally found someone who can understand me..." Silence followed, as Noriaki Kakyoin had passed out.
You gently brushed a hand through his hair, and you knew you'd keep your promise. You whispered a simple goodbye that he wouldn't hear. It was time for you to rejoin the fray.
