It was just so sudden.
"Polnareff! Iggy! Caesar! Look out!" Avdol's voice rang out as he smacked Polnareff out of the way, forcing the French man to be pushed against Caesar as well as Iggy. Before their bodies could even hit against the ground, almost the entirety of his being had been removed. Gone. In only an instant.
Polnareff and Caesar scrambled over to the nearest wall and looked around as they waited for the cloud of smoke to clear away. Polnareff started shouting, "H-Hey, Avdol! Where are you! W-What was that just now?" His eyes fell on the severed limbs. "W-What are th-those arms..?" He couldn't accept it. "H-Hey, Avdol! Where'd you go?!" His gaze moved frantically around the mansion, hoping for a glimpse of the fortune teller or some semblance of hope that this was all part of a bad dream. "Where are you?! Avdol!" He kept shouting his name, hoping for the Egyptian's voice to call back.
Caesar put a hand on Polnareff's shoulder, not keen on being the one to utter the words, "I-It's no use... Avdol's... dead."
Polnareff knocked the Zeppeli's arm away, "You're lying! He's still out there! He's still alive! He has to be! He can't be... gone. Just like that...?" Vanilla Ice's Stand, Cream, became visible in front of them, part of its body still engulfed by its mouth. "Wh-What is that?"
"And more importantly," Started Caesar, "Why didn't Avdol's flames sense anything? Is that the thing that took (Y/N)?"
Polnareff turned to the dog, "Hey, Iggy! You couldn't smell him with your nose? Answer me!" Iggy struggled to breathe, having never been exposed to as much pure terror in his life. The French man shook his head and continued his frantic search around, "Avdol! Where did you go?"
A voice emerged from the direction of the enemy Stand, "Avdol..." It picked the arms off the ground. "has been disintegrated. I do not know where the void inside my mouth leads, but it is a dimension of darkness. I sent him there. You three are next. I must correct your arrogant belief that you can defeat Lord Dio." It ate the arms. Within its mouth they could faintly make out a pair of pink eyes. "One by one... in order, in order... I shall scatter you throughout my dimension of darkness." It stuck its hands into its mouth.
Polnareff stumbled up to his feet, "You're lying... Saying that... that you killed Avdol... Don't lie to me!" He let out a war cry while Silver Chariot took form behind Cream. Emotional and angry, he made his Stand continuously jab with its rapier. "Look over here, damn it! You piece of shit!" He managed a single cut before Cream disappeared in on itself. He slammed his fist into the wall behind him, "Damn it!"
"We can't just sit idly by. It hurts... I know it does, but the enemy is still around." Caesar clutched his hand into a fist, his nails almost breaking the skin of his palm. "We can't let his death be in vain." Caesar grabbed Polnareff's forearm and tugged, by pure luck it allowed the French man to avoid being obliterated by the sphere of void going past them.
They couldn't see the spherical void, but the marks it made along the ground were clear. Polnareff grabbed Iggy, "You're right, Caesar. It's not safe here anymore. Let's move!" The three of them busted through a door and began to sprint down a hallway until they spotted a familiar set of stairs. "C'mon! Let's go up!" Now they could see the open door of the mansion's exit. "That's the door that we came in. But we can't go that way."
Caesar gave an agreeing grunt, "Avdol sacrificed himself for us. We have to do what we came here for and defeat Dio, finish the job he left for us."
Polnareff gave a bittersweet smile, "Couldn't have said it any better myself. Running away is for losers. We're not gonna run away, we're gonna run towards that bastard, Dio!" Iggy let out a growl as he was convinced to join in. With a sharp right turn, they headed up another flight of stairs, ending up in a rather empty room. The sunlight barely shining in through the windows, but much more important was the hole in the center with trails of purple smoke flowing out of it, "H-He cut us off!" All three of them brought out their Stands. "He's here!"
Caesar stood with his back facing Polnareff's, "Let's keep an eye on all corners of the room, he has to appear from somewhere." They stayed like that for a moment until Polnareff's impatience grew.
"Come at me, damn it! I'll cut you in half!" Polnareff shouted so loud that it was a wonder the entirety of the mansion's occupant's didn't hear. There was another period of silence until Polnareff felt something beneath his foot and hesitantly glanced down to see Cream. "W-What?!" Caesar pulled the French man back as quick as possible, allowing the avoidance of what could've been a fairly bad injury to his foot.
"It would appear that I have missed." Spoke Vanilla Ice. Iggy went in for an attack with The Fool, but he ended up having to play defensively to avoid injury.
"You bastard!" Silver Chariot took form and attempted a strike at the enemy only for them to vanish. He then began slicing around everywhere with its rapier. The entire room had been engulfed by the dust of the debris. Caesar recognized the plan and joined in, doing his best to add to the fragments of the mansion amidst the air.
That's when you showed up. You were following the directions given by Kars to reach your companions and you scampered down another set of stairs only to be yanked into them by Polnareff upon reaching the bottom. Despite his excitement to see you, his voice was barely audible. "(Y/N)?! Thank goodness you're here! The enemy is powerful. They... they even got Avdol..."
You let out a terrified gasp as your hands instinctually covered your mouth, "Y-You can't mean that..." You certainly weren't prepared for such terrible news.
Caesar couldn't look you in the eye, "Yes... Muhammad Avdol has died."
You slammed your fist against sand mimicry of the stairs, "Damn it all."
"We're currently hiding from the man who killed him, but we've come up with a plan to defeat the enemy and his dimension of darkness or whatever." Explained Polnareff.
Your eyes widened, "So you are fighting Vanilla Ice? He was just turned into a vampire!"
Caesar caught on to what you were thinking, "Which means if I manage to hit him with some Hamon we've got ourselves a victory. Iggy is going to mimic Dio's voice and appearance, he's seen the picture and Polnareff gave as good as an impression as he could for him to work with. If you walk in with him, it might be more believable." You nodded along to the plan and retreated back up the stairs.
Vanilla Ice stuck his head out of his Stand's mouth just at the bottom of the staircase. "You are powerless before me. Without a doubt, I will defeat you. Now, where are you?"
"What's all this noise, Vanilla Ice?" Spoke the sand Dio who had your body pressed against his via the arm around your waist.
Vanilla allowed the upper half of his body to emerge from the sand as he put a hand over his heart, "L-Lord Dio, Madam (L/N)! Please be careful! Polnareff, Zeppeli, and that dog are hiding somewhere nearby. Please leave this to me." He turned away from Dio to scour the room again for a sign of his foes, "You need not personally trouble yourself with this, Lord Dio."
The sand Dio raised its hand to go in for a strike, but in an instant it was severed and fell to the ground. The rest of his body started to lose its shape as well, "Sunlight streams through this room's windows. The real Lord Dio would never leave his room to enter this place." He made a good point. Dio had embraced the darkness, and wouldn't give it up to check on some measely servant. But that raised the question of how Vanilla Ice was able to withstand it. Was it simply not strong enough or too indirect? Or perhaps all the dust in the room was enough to block it to a point it wouldn't hurt. Or could the vampiric process take more time than you thought, making him still partially human?
The veins in Vanilla Ice's face became much more prominent as his anger increased, "And to make a copy of Madam (L/N) as well, how despicable." He gave your face a backhanded slap, genuinely surprised to have made contact with real flesh and bone. "Y-You're the real one...?" His thumb caressed your cheek as he watched the bruise he had made quickly fade away.
You gave an awkward laugh as your hand moved to meet his, "Yeah...?"
"You should go back to Lord Dio's room. He will not be happy to know you have left." Spoke Vanilla Ice, somewhat worried. "I apologize for striking you. I would not have done it if I was aware it were really you." His head turned sharply to glare at Iggy, "But you, on the other hand. How dare you make me destroy something in the image of Dio!" He moved towards the dog, his anger apparent. A flying bubble disk of Hamon zoomed straight towards his head.
