Chapter 22

Sonakshi and Rohit looked at each other, stunned.

'Kaisa laga surprise?' Ajit lifted his eyebrows.

Rohit cleared his throat, while Sonakshi looked a bit flushed, looking everywhere except at him.

Rohit spoke.

'But Papa, meri shoot hai, I can't take an off..'

'Or mera schedule bhi full hai..'

Naren and Veena laughed.

Rohit and Sonakshi looked at each other again.

'Pata tha yahi bahana hoga..iss liye tumhare director se, or tumhari nurse Tulsi ko pehle hi bata diya tha. So no bahana!'

'But Papa..' Sonakshi protested.

'No beta..jab se shadi hui hai, tum dono kahin ghoomne bhi nahin gaye. Or jo abhi teen din tum yahan nahin thi to Rohit ka haal dekhne wala tha. Yeh sahabzaade to chartered flight ya phir train se nikle parr rahe thay tumhe wapas laane..'

Sonakshi looked stunned, while Rohit flushed a bit.

'Bilkul! Or do din ke hi liye hai, kon sa poora week hai..jab ke hona chahiye tha..magar hum jaante thay tum log apne kaam mein kitne involved ho..to bas..ek chota sa gift..'
Veena came towards them.

'Thankyou Papa, Mom..' Rohit hugged her.

She in turn hugged them both.

'Hamesha khusho raho, saath raho..'

A shutter came over Sonakshi's eyes and Rohit noticed.

Oh no..jab lag raha tha kuch umeed bani hai, yeh bomb..ab kaise react karegi yeh..

Sonakshi made some excuse and went upstairs.

Akaash chachu diverted his attention to discuss something, so Rohit couldn't go after her.

Yeh kahan phans gayi. Rohit ke saath do din akele?
Abhi to mein khud ko hi samjha rahi thi, ab usse kaise samjhaungi?

She twisted her hands and paced the room.

As she passed by the desk, she saw a paper jutting out of a script manual, about to fall.

She picked up the manual to put the papers inside. As she did so, her name stood out.

Curious, she took out the paper to see.

Her name was written in different sizes, like doodles.

'Sonakshi' 'Sona' 'SONA'

'Aise to kabhi Sona ke naam se nahin pukara..likha ja raha hai..'

She was surprised further by seeing poetry on the paper.

'Dil ki lagi yeh mehez ittefaq tha
Tera aana jhoka e bahaar tha
Warna hum to thay rookhay pattay ki tarha
Na jagah, na thikaana
Na kisi mausam ka intezar tha'

Sonakshi was stunned.

Rohit ne mere liye..shayari..mujhe to pata hi nahin tha ke woh..shayari..oh God!

She heard footsteps. Quickly shoving the paper inside, she closed the script and went and sat on the couch. Picking up her phone, she pretended to be talking to her mother.

'Ji Ma! Han, Papa se kahiyega mein aaungi milne..jaldi..'

Rohit entered the room to see her talking on the phone.
