Chapter 6

The next morning brought a stern, serious Dr. Sonakshi to the hospital. Normally, she was a good boss to work with. But today, several of the staff tried steering clear from her line of fire.

Outside her office, a lot of whispering was going on, everyone trying to figure out who had done what.

As soon as her morning meeting was over, she instructed Tulsi to ask Dr. Ajay Mathur to come to her office.

Sonakshi was pacing in her office, when he arrived.

Dr. Ajay Mathur was a handsome man of average height and built. He was a dermatologist and a good one at that.

He knocked and entered.

'Hi! Dr. Sonakshi..how are you?'

'I'm fine. Please sit.'

She had a no nonsense tone, leaving Ajay wondering what this was about.

'Aap bhi bethen na..'

She sat behind her desk. She remained quiet for so long, that he had to ask.

'Kya baat hai? Anything wrong? Kisi patient ka masla?'

'Patient ka nahin, tumhara masla hai!' she finally spoke.

'Mera? Maine kya kiya?'

Outside her office, unknown to her Rohit had arrived to meet her. He spoke to the receptionist.

'Dr. Sonakshi Rastogi se milna hai..' he smiled at the receptionist.
She looked at him dreamily, recognising him.

'Sir..aap..woh Ma'am ek meeting mein busy hain. Aap ka appointment hai?'

'Appointment to nahin hai..but I'm sure aap jaisi khoobsurat, honhaar larki ke liye kuch arrange karna mushkil nahin hoga..' he leaned over the counter and winked at her.
The girl was bowled over by his charm.

'Uhmm..agar aap thora wait karen to mein pata karti hun..'

Her eyes never leaving his face, she called Tulsi.

'Aaj madam ka mood bohot kharab hai, bina appointment ke kisi ko nahin dekhengi. Mana kar do.' Tulsi told her.

Clearing her throat, she broke the news to Rohit.

'Uhm, sorry sir..aaj Ma'am aap se nahin mil sakti hain. Tulsi, unki staff nurse, unke saath hoti hai, she has told me. I'm sorry.'

'It's okay. You are very loyal. Mein Tulsi se hi baat karleta hun..' he moved towards Sonakshi's office.

'But sir..'

He just turned and winked at her. She smiled and let him go.

Rohit knew the way and quickly crossed the corridors. He saw a couple of nurses hanging about at the counter.

'Aap mein se Tulsi kon hai?'

Tulsi immediately got up, recognising him.

'Zain..from KYPH!'

'Yes..mujhe Dr. Sonakshi Rastogi se milna hai. Free hain?'

He moved to her door, almost opening it.

'No sir! Please!'

Tulsi hurried over to stop him, shutting the door quickly, but not before he heard something which shocked him.

'Apne Dad se keh kar mujhe shadi ke liye propose kiya hai, or tum pooch rahe ho kya kiya hai?'

Tulsi gave him a look. He stood there, too stunned to move away from the door. Someone inside was proposing to her? A weird sensation ran through him.
