Chapter 12

It was a difficult night for them both.

Rohit lay on the bed alone. He couldn't believe he had lost his cool. What was it about her? He had been pulled towards her ever since he had met her..this desire was entirely new.

He had worked with several beautiful women in his line of work. Never had he felt this kind of attraction. Her behaviour made him all the more curious. What was it that she was hiding? He so wanted to discover.
He saw her shift positions on the sofa.

This was just the beginning..another 364 days to go..
He groaned.

Sonakshi sat on the sofa, her legs beneath her.
She had never expected Rohit to behave this way. His eyes..ever since she had seen him on screen with those intense eyes...
But, he was an actor after all. He knew how to show emotions on demand. All this..was he just playing with her feelings like...No! She broke the thought before it came.
She looked across the room as he changed his position on the bed.
His sweet gesture at the hospital, his nearness..it affected her..why?
She sighed heavily.
She had gotten herself into this situation, all she had to do was keep her thoughts and emotions in check.

Easier said than done. Bravo Sonakshi, bravo!

The morning sun penetrated the large window. The candles had long lost their flame.
Sonakshi woke up disoriented. Obviously, she had finally slept on the sofa. Stretching from her cramped position, she remembered the previous days' events.
She quickly glanced at the bed, where Rohit was still asleep on his stomach, his face hidden.
Moving quietly, she went to the bathroom to freshen up. She hadn't had a chance to bring her things from her house yesterday, so what she had been wearing was all she had.
Trying her best to look presentable, she silently moved out of the room, shutting the door behind her.

Going down the stairs, she was surprised to see the family members up and about. She glanced at her watch. It was just 8 o'clock.

It was Naren who noticed her first. He elbowed Veena who was sitting next to him. Veena glanced up and smiled.

'Sonakshi! Aao..itni jaldi uth gayin?'

Sonakshi came and sat next to her.

'Good morning! Ji, mujhe aadat hai..besides, thori der mein hospital pohnchna hai..'

'Aaj bhi jaana hai? Off le leti..'

'Aunty, woh meri do surgeries bhi lined up hain..to..plus pehle ghar jaungi..phir..'

'Ghar?'

'Ji..woh kal itna kuch hogaya to apna samaan nahin laayi.'

'Han..tumhari family..unhun ne kaise sab..?'

'Woh to Rohit ne convince..'

'Hmm..Rohit sab ko moam kar deta hai..apni baaton se..'

A sudden vision of what he had said last night flashed in her mind. She shook it away.

Without meaning to, she spoke freely with Veena. After yesterday, she had softened towards Sonakshi.

'Hum bhi milna chahenge tumhari family se..abhi weekend pe dinner pe bulaate hain na unhe. Un ka number de jao..mein baat karlungi.'

'Sure!' Sonakshi did so.

'Ab mein jaati hun..'

'Aray! Breakfast kiye bina?'

'Woh mein baad mein..thankyou..'

'Wapas kab aaogi?'

'Shaam tak..after I'm free.'
