Sonakshi was flummoxed.

'Kya? Kya bola tumne? Mein? Mein chali jaun? Tumhe chorr kar?'

Rohit's expression did not waver.

'Sunayi nahin diya? Bola to English mein tha, Hindi mein bhi sun na hai?'

'Is there a point?'

'Yes! The point is that you should go..right now!'

Sonakshi moved towards him.

'Rohit! Tum aisa kyun bol rahe ho? Mujhse kyun naraaz ho rahe ho? Maine aisa kya kar diya hai?'

He was silent.

'Bolo na..mein jaan na chahti hun ke mera qusoor kya hai?'

He was quiet for so long, that she thought he wasn't going to say anything at all.

'Tum..'

'Kyunke mein yahi chahta hun!'

She looked at him.

'Kya? Ke mein tumhe chorr ke chali jaun? Aise? Tum jaante bhi ho ke tum kya bol rahe ho?'
She sighed and came to kneel beside his wheelchair.
He moved it a bit backwards.

Sonakshi closed her eyes against the pain that caused and put out a hand to stop it.

'Tum mujhe khud se duur karna chahte ho?'

A flicker of pain came on his face before he schooled his features again.

'Magar kyun? Mein to tumhare saath hun na..har qadam par..mujhse berukhi dikha ke kya milega tumhe?'

He fisted his hands in what was the only show of emotion.

'I know tum kis takleef se guzar rahe ho..or mein..'

'You do? Do you? Do you even understand what I'm going through? How it feels?' He was angry.

'To batao na mujhe..baat karo mujh se..'

'You can't even begin to feel what I do..'

Sonakshi took his hands in hers, but he jerked them off.
She looked at him incredulously.

'Ab kya mera choona bhi bardaasht nahin horaha hai tumhe?'

'Bardaasht! Yeh lafz..bardaasht! Sahi kaha tumne! Mere andar bardaasht nahin hai..nahin hai bardaasht ke tum yahan raho, mere aas paas..yun..yun..meri har baat ka khayal karo..mujhe tasalliyan do jab ke pata hai kuch theek nahin hoga..mere liye..yeh..yeh khaane banao..nahin ho raha hai bardaasht!'
His outburst stunned her.

'Tum se mein..tumhari Sona, tumhari biwi bardaasht nahin ho rahi? That's what you are saying?'

'Yeh meri har baat repeat karna band kardo! Or chali jao yahan se.'

'Tum to aise keh rahe ho jaise tumhe meri koi parwah hi nahin..'

'Parwah hai!'

She looked at him, hope in her eyes.

'Parwah hai! Ke tum to bilkul theek ho na. Chal phir sakti ho, khari ho sakti ho, to tumhe iss daldal mein kyun phansay rehna hai? Nikal jao iss se!'

A light dawned in her eyes, his words now giving her an idea what this was about. And it made her angry.

She looked up at him, trying to hold his gaze, but he resisted.

'Ohh! To yeh hai tumhare iss ghusse, tumhare iss cheekhne chillaane ki wajah. Self pity!'

He started at that.

'Self pity?'

'Han, self pity..apne aap ko duniya ka sab se barra,  bechara insaan samajhna, apne haal pe taras khaana..'
