'I can't..can't feel my legs!'

Sonakshi gasped.

'What? Nahin nahin..aisa nahin hoga Rohit! Woh itne din se bed pe ho na, semi-coma mein..to..relax..'

'No! Mein sach keh raha hun..mujhe mehsoos nahin ho raha..'

'Acha, okay..relax..'
She wiped his brow, as sweat began to gather, from his efforts.

'Sona! Mein..'.

'Sshhh..bas, bas..relax..sab theek hoga..sab..'
She didn't know if she was reassuring him or herself.

Sonakshi bent down to kiss his forehead.

'Relax hojao..please..relax..'

'Sona mujhe mehsoos nahin ho raha..mein khud se..mein..mein..'

'Sshh..sshh..kuch aisa mat socho..please..relax Rohit..please..'

He fell back asleep, as she soothed him.

Sonakshi put down his hand, which had been clutching hers, gently on his stomach and moved away.

Looking down at him, her heart felt laden with tension.

What if he's right? It is possible in a car accident..spinal cord injury..oh God! I hope not..

Sonakshi went out of the room.

The nursing staff immediately got up from her seat.

'Yes, ma'am?'

'Simmi, please show me Rohit's reports again.'

The staff quickly got her his scans and xrays.
Ofcourse, she wasn't a neurologist, so she just had a  brief knowledge of it, but she did know, sometimes scans didn't show exact diagnoses.

All possible tests had been done already, and Dr. Malhotra, her best neurophysician, had been to see Rohit already.

I'll call him first thing in the morning..

Dr. Malhotra shook his head, looking at the scan again.

Sonakshi stood next to him.

Veena was inside the room with Rohit, while Sonakshi was outside.

She had wanted to discuss things with him, before facing Rohit again.

'Dr. Rastogi, scans can be deceiving often, and according to this, there seems to be no damage to the spinal cord. But I'll have to examine him to make sure. You are saying he has no feeling in his legs, right?'

'Yes! That's what he said. I know car accidents mein common hoti hain aisi injuries..but on the whole, he had seemed to be pretty lucky..yeh sab..I mean..' her voice broke.

'Please, Dr. Sonakshi! You have to be strong. If this is a paralysis, you have to handle things with the doctor in you, not as a wife!'

Sonakshi swallowed the lump in her throat.

'Yes, ofcourse, you are right! I have to do this..'

He had woken up a while ago, looking for her.

'Beta bahar hai, ajayegi..chalo tum kuch kha lo..'
