'Sona!'

Rohit turned on a light, lighting up the room. He blinked as his eyes adjusted to the light.

He moved forward, but then came to a complete stop.
Sonakshi was sitting huddled on the floor next to the bed, her head and arms on her knees. And she was crying.

'Sona!'

Rohit ran towards her and kneeled down in front of her. Sonakshi didn't look up, but continued crying.

'Sona! Idhar to dekho please..'

'Go away, Rohit! Mujhe akele rehna hai..' her voice came muffled.

'Aise kaise..tum itna ro rahi ho..please..'

Rohit reached out to touch her, but she didn't respond.

'God, Sona! Aisa to mat karo mere saath. Mein nahin dekh sakta tumhe aise..'

'To mat dekho..jao..'

'Sona, please..'

Sonakshi lifted her head, and Rohit gasped. For her face was all red now, her mascara running down her cheeks, her eyes getting swollen.

'No, no..please..'
He reached out to wipe her tears.

'Rohit, mujhe akela chorr do, please..'

'Magar, Sona..'

'Mein hi chali jaati hun..'
She made to get up.

'No, no! Mein jaata hun, relax. Lekin please, rona band kardo. Kisi anjaan insaan ke liye khud ko itni takleef mat do, logon ka to kaam hai na..you can't stop them..or yeh Bua..she's so mean..please..mein jaata hun..just don't cry..'

Rohit got up and moved to the door.
Just as he reached the door, she called him.

'Rohit! Mujhe chorr ke mat jao..please..'

Rohit turned to see her, in the same position, spreading her arms towards him. He ran back to her and took her in his embrace, as she hugged him tightly.

'Mujhe chorr ke mat jao..'

'Never..mein hun yahan..abhi..hamesha..' he kissed the top of her head.

He hugged her tightly, and they both sat on the floor like that, for what seemed to be ages.

'I'm sorry!'
They both said, together.

Rohit looked down at her.

'Tum kyun bol rahi ho?'

'Maine kuch kiya hai aaj, uss ke liye..magar tum kyun bol rahe ho?'

'Maine bhi kuch kiya hai..iss liye..'

They both looked at each other, a small smile coming to their lips.

'Rohit, I'm sorry! Mein kabhi baron se rudely baat nahin karti, magar woh Bua ji ko maine..'

'I know..'

'Woh maine..bas..what? You know?'

He nodded.

'I know ke neechay kya hua tha.'
Rohit looked upset.

'Tumhe bura laga na? Woh sab bol rahi thi..to mujh se raha nahin gaya..maine jawab..'

'Acha kiya!'

Sonakshi looked at him, startled.

'What?'

'Acha kiya, jo jawab de diya..aise logon ko de dena chahiye..or phir unhun ne tumse itna kuch bol diya..'

'Still, Rohit..woh bari hain..'
