[Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?] || Jaehyun

You love Jaehyun, you really do. You love him so much that you put up with him getting high all the time. His main way of communication is through text so when you first knew each other, you would immediately answer the phone with urgency.

"What happened? Is everything okay?"

"If your leg gets cut off, do you still feel the pain?"

"Huh?"

"I don't think you can. I mean think about it: how can you feel the pain if your leg is gone?"

You sit in silence as you try to process the words that came out his mouth.

"Jaehyun, are you okay?"

"No I'm Jaehyun."

"I'm hanging up now."

You hear him mumble, asking you not to go just yet. You let out a sigh as you tell him that you'll stay on the line. He tried telling you a story that he found funny but he couldn't tell it without giggling at every other word.

From then on, you knew that if he called you at night, there was a chance that he was high. The longer your friendship has gone on, the later he would call you. There was a point in time where his calls would always be around 3 am. You would be sleeping so you wouldn't see his calls. You would wake up in the morning to see that he called and left a voicemail for you to hear. Each voice-mail he left would be different from the last. The thoughts that were in his mind spills out of his mouth without a care in the world.

Tonight though, you were certain that you weren't going to get a call from him as he said he has a early morning tomorrow. For whatever reason though, you couldn't bring yourself to fall asleep. You tried all the tricks but nothing seemed to be working. As if on cue, there goes your phone and you see that it's the one and only person who would call at an ungodly hour.

"Shouldn't you be asleep by now?"

"No."

"You said you had to be up early tomorrow."

"Oh yeah, not anymore."

There's silence and he speaks up once again.

"___, I think there's someone in my mirror."

"Jaehyun...just how high are you?"

"I'm 6 feet."

"That tells me all I need to know." You tell him that the person he sees is his reflection. It seems like he wasn't paying attention because he believes it's him from an alternate universe. You don't bother correcting him, finding him trying to talk to his "alternate self."

The next day you text him asking him why does he only ever call you when he's high and you weren't sure what kind of answer to expect.

"I don't know, I just like talking to you."

"Even when you're high of your rockers?"

"Especially then."

"You know, you can call me when you're not high too."

"Oh I know, but it's more fun this way because you can tell me the funny things I said."

"Funny is a different way of saying questionable but I'll take it."

Jaehyun immediately called after reading that message, going on a rant on how he is, in fact, funny and you just let him talk. It was always great talking to him no matter what state he was in.
