Jung Wooyoung was one of, if not the best in his police force. Everyone had a lot of respect for him. Since being a police officer is a serious job, Wooyoung lightens the mood at the station amongst the other members and makes everyone feel calm in even the most tense situations. Although his personality doesn't match his occupation, he knew how to get the job done. He was able to work under pressure and time crunches. Never did he think he would get a distress call about someone he knew, but then...it happened.
It was a quiet night at the station, Wooyoung at his desk scanning over reports. His mind starts to wander off, remembering some cringy things that made him visibly shudder. His mind then goes onto the thought of you, his school sweetheart. You two haven't seen each other in so long but he can still see your face clearly. He remembered how your smile put him at peace and your laugh made everyone around you smile and laugh along. His thoughts were interrupted when he heard shuffling around. Someone then bursts through and tells him that there's someone being held hostage in their home.
Wooyoung and his men all rush to the house. Backup came shortly after, interviewing neighbors on the scene. One of the men had a megaphone, asking the suspect to come out with their hands up but there was no answer. Some officers went to the sides of the house, looking through windows and finding other entrances. One of the men passed by a window and heard a muffled scream. They notified Wooyoung through his walkie talkie and since no one inside would come out, Wooyoung gave the order to ambush all possible entrances.
When they all entered, everyone went in different directions to investigate. A few stayed by Wooyoung, using their flashlights to examine the scene for evidence. Shortly after, he hears someone yell, "DROP THE WEAPON!" He rushes over to the room and he can't believe his eyes. The person who hated him the most was the one holding an innocent person hostage. The person's eyes meet Wooyoung's wide ones and a smirk appears on his face.
"Jung Wooyoung, fancy see you here."
"Put your hands up and we'll make this easy for us all."
"Oh, but it's not that easy. Wouldn't you want to know my motives?"
Wooyoung looked at the men around him, making sure they had their body cams on. He motioned for him to continue.
"Well I figured, since you took something meaningful from me...why not give you a taste of your own medicine."
Wooyoung furrowed his eyebrows, wondering what he could have possibly took from this guy.
"It seems like you don't remember so let me catch you up to speed. We were both candidates for homecoming king and remember who won?"
"Me?"
"You see, you do remember. Now next question, do you remember who was your homecoming counterpart?"
"_____."
"There we go."
"You're really holding someone hostage because you weren't homecoming kings years ago."
"I'm not holding just anybody hostage." The man walks over to you, removing the bag over your head. Wooyoung nearly choked on nothing when you met his eyes. What he knew was your kind and loving eyes but instead he sees your eyes filled with fear, an emotion he wished you never had to experience. You tried to say something to him but you had duct tape on your mouth.
"Since they were supposed to be my majesty, it's only fair I have them now, is it not?"
"So you kidnapped them because of something that didn't go your way years ago?"
"In summary, yes."
"You're despicable."
"I would like to say I'm driven, always getting what I want."
"Even if it means going to jail for it?"
Some officers started to circle around the man, making sure that he has no where to run. Surprisingly, he doesn't put up a fight. He allows the officers to pat him down and search him for possible weapons on his person. While that happens, Wooyoung comes around to where you were. You were tied to a chair and when he untied you and removed the duct tape, you remained in the seat. You both watched as the man was handcuffed and was read his rights. Once he was escorted out the room, the officers said that they'll take care of it and some stayed in the house along with EMS to make sure you were okay.
It was finally you and Wooyoung in the room. When Wooyoung knelt down in front of you, you broke down into tears, clinging onto him. Wooyoung held you like you were his whole world, and you were. He cradled your face in his gloved hands, reassuring you that justice will be served and that he will protect you, no matter what, and he meant every word.
