Most people would say that you have an obsession. You see it as...an infatuation, admiration.

You weren't obsessed, you weren't obsessed.

You were in love, simple as that. The problem was that you can't exactly control your emotions. You got jealous easily and you could easily be filled with rage in the blink of an eye. You never felt this issue before until you met them.

The first time you saw them you knew that they were the one. Everything about them screamed your type. The way they carried themselves, the way they interacted with others, their smile. My goodness that smile. You would kill to see that smile first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

But at the time you met, they were in a relationship with someone else. For the first time you felt...envious? You would smile at them but send daggers through your glare at their significant other. You were starting to lose your cool and it wasn't looking good for you.

You knew that you wouldn't be able to find someone like them but you still tried. You only flirted and gone on dates with people who had similar facial features and similar personality traits as your desired interest.

But to no avail, none of them were the one. They were just placeholders and any other person would feel guilty about this but you couldn't care less. You have lost many hours of sleep, picturing different scenarios of you and them.

You were certain that you two belong together. You were also certain that you can't live without them.

Instead of coming to a 'if they're happy, then I'm happy' conclusion, you figured that in order to be in that romantic relationship you've longed for, you have to get rid of the person in that spot. Not by killing them of course, that wouldn't look good on your record.

You decided to anonymously text their partner, telling them that your love isn't who they thought they were. Were you damaging the reputation of the person you love? Yeah, but all things come at a price to get what you want.

Some time after your messages, you find your love crying on a park bench. You quietly make your way over to them, making your presence known.

"Hi uh, is everything okay?"

They shook their head in response.

"Do you want to talk about it? Or would you like a hug?"

"A hug please." They softly muttered.

You sat down next to them and opened your arms, waiting for whenever they were ready to hug you. They make their way into your arms and they start to sob. You rub their back, trying to soothe them while you are biting back a smile.

Could your plan have worked?

"T-they broke up with me." You hear them say quietly.

"Oh no, did they?" You say, trying to sound as convincing as possible.

"Y-yea, they said s-something about how I wasn't who they thought I was."

"They felt misled?"

"I guess so. It hurts ____, it really does."

"I know honey, I know." You continued to rub their back and their crying was slowly coming to a stop. You were finally able to let out that big smile, knowing that your plan was truly a success.

They move from your arms to look at your face and you quickly lose the smile.

"But I still don't understand. They said someone texted them some information about me, but they're all lies. I'm not that bad, am I?"

Now was your chance. They were going to be yours slowly but surely.

"First off, they were dumb to believe texts without any supporting facts, but that's not the point. You're not at all. They just weren't the one. If they were, they would've talked to you about the texts and not just call it off like that. You are one of the most kindest, sweetest, and most genuine people I have ever met. Anyone would be lucky to have you."

"If you got those texts, would you leave me?"

"Of course not! I could never leave you. I know this isn't the best time to confess but...I like you. Like, really like you."

"____..."

"I know that was selfish of me to just spring this on you at a time like this, but I just had to get this off my chest and-"

You were cut off by them kissing you. You quickly kissed back, savoring the moment. They pulled away and they had a small smile on their face.

"W-what was that for?" You ask in genuine shock.

"I'm not exactly sure...but it felt right."

"Yea...it did."

"I don't know if it's normal to try and move on this quickly but...do you want to go on a date with me?"

"Like...right now?"

"No...I mean we can go now if you're free. It's okay if-"

"The more important question is are you ready to go on a date right now?"

They pondered for a moment before shaking their head no.

"Probably not."

"Yea let's not rush into it. Take time for yourself and then whenever you're ready, I'll be ready."

"Thank you."

"No need to thank me. You're worth waiting for."

"You would really wait for me?"

"I already was and I'll continue to until you're ready for me."

You wiped their tear stained cheeks, catching stray tears that were starting to appear. They start to smile and so do you.

"Well then, I'll see you around?"

"See you around."

They get up from the bench and start to walk away before they stop shortly after.

"Hey!" They call out to you.

"Yeah!"

"Can I least walk you home?"

You don't give them a verbal answer, you getting up and jogging up to them. They extend their arm out so you can link yours with theirs. You two get to know each on that walk. Well...it's more them getting to know you since you knew practically everything about them already.

You arrived at your front door and you two exchanged numbers, making them promise you that they'll text you when they get home. After they walk away, you close your door and slide down against it. You let out a squeal and jump up in excitement. You rush over to your room and go to your closet. You push back your clothes down the middle and look at your makeshift shrine.

"You did it ____, you really did it. You're one step closer to them finally being yours."

You hear your phone and you run to your bed. You see that it's a text from them, letting you know that they're home. You two continue the conversation from your walk home and as you wait for their reponses, you had scenes going through your head. You can see you two having a nice wedding in Paris because that's where they want to visit the most.

They were truly one in a million and you were satisfied with you being the only person on their mind...

...the way it always should've been.
