You were crushing, and crushing hard. You didn't want to have these feelings for them and yet, here they were. You found many things to like about them. You liked their smile, the way their eyes crinkle when they laugh. The list could truly go on and on but you're not the only one who thinks that way.

Of course, there was someone else: their significant other.

The way they looked at each other with such love and adoration made you sick to your stomach. You would hear them talk about each other to their friends in passing and your heart starts to pound. Was it out of jealousy, rage, envy? Maybe a combination of all three.

Every time you saw them together, you constantly think about how that should be you. You're the one who deserves to make them happy. You're the one who deserves to kiss and hug them. You want nothing more than to be theirs and for them to be yours. But unless they magically break up and realize they have feelings for you all along, you're stuck on the sidelines.

All of your friends tell you that you pursuing them isn't doing you any good. While they are correct, something tells you that it'll work in your favor. Do you sound delusional? Possibly but you believe that they are your soulmate. You two get along really well and you mesh well.

One day, you truly realize that you must follow your friend's advice. Your crush and their significant other had been together for some time now and when your crush came to ask you a question about them, you weren't expecting what you heard.

"You want to propose?"

"Yeah, but part of me thinks I'm rushing into it."

"What makes you say that?"

"Well it's been a little over a year."

"Have you spoken about having a future with them before?"

"Not yet. Do you think I should hint towards it?"

"Yeah, definitely see if they're open to the idea of marriage first before you go off and buy a ring."

"____, what would I do without you?"

"Probably not survive for long."

"Hey!"

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding."

"Seriously, thank you."

"No problem! Just make sure to invite me to the wedding if it happens."

"You already know!"

They gave you a big hug and left, most likely going to talk to their significant other about that idea. Just like that, you were left alone in your thoughts. They were already thinking of popping the question? You truly hope that your feelings for them go away but until then, you will continue to wish that you were in their significant other's place.
