[Did You Forget?] || Mingyu

Your birthday was approaching and you were excited, especially because this is your first birthday with your boyfriend, Mingyu. You've seen how he is with the other members birthday's so you wonder what he might do for yours. You really made sure not to hint towards your birthday coming up and you did well not reminding him.

You knew Mingyu couldn't sleep over at your place due to late night practice so you stayed up past midnight to see who would wish you happy birthday first. Not to your surprise, your best friends wished you happy birthday first by a group facetime serenade. After nearly 2 hours on the call, you finally went to sleep. When you woke up hours later and your day properly started, you would receive birthday wishes from family and other friends of yours.

As a surprise to you, your friends came over with gifts, including a new outfit to wear out to lunch with them. They told you that they wanted to do dinner originally but they wanted you to spend that time with Mingyu. Your face unconsciously fell at the mention of his name. Your friends quickly notice this and ask you what's wrong.

"I don't want to be upset right away but he hasn't wished me happy birthday yet."

"Maybe he's laying low so he can go all out tonight."

"I hope y'all are right." You said with a pout.

"Hey, no pouting on your birthday. Now let's go eat."

You all head out to lunch and you were surprised by the restaurant staff when they came out and sang to you. After finishing your meal, you all went to a nearby park for an impromptu photoshoot. You thanked your friends as they dropped you off at your place. For the remainder of the afternoon, you were thanking people for the birthday wishes. Some of those people happened to be Mingyu's fellow band members.

All of them except Mingyu wished you happy birthday.

You debated on whether or not you should eat dinner but as the clock kept ticking you decided it was better to eat. After eating, you changed into your pajamas and called up your friends. They were surprised that you were already dressed for bed and they asked what happened.

"Mingyu never came. He has literally one more hour to save himself but I'm really doubting he'll do anything."

"Maybe he wants to be the last person to wish you happy birthday." One of your friends say, trying to be optimistic.

"If he wanted something like that, then he should have been the first AND last to say it." Another friend said.

"You're right, he tries to be the first with the members."

"Do you want us to fight him?"

"No one is going to fight him."

"Yet." A friend says.

You give a stern look to the camera and your friends hold up their hands in surrender.

After that, you all talk about plans to meet up in the future. You were so wrapped in conversation, none of you realized that it was no longer your birthday. You realized after everyone else decided to go to bed. Letting out a shaky sigh, you text Jeonghan asking if he's awake. Less than 5 minutes later, he calls you.

"_____! Is everything okay?"

"I guess...not really. Is Mingyu at the dorm?"

"He's not with you?"

"No...did he mention where he was going?"

"Not that I remember hearing, no. You haven't seen him all day?"

"Nope. He didn't even wish me happy birthday."

"He didn't? That little-"

"Jeonghan, please. Just...I just-"

"You want me to come to you?"

"It's too late, I don't want you out this late."

"Do you want to sleepover here?"

"Maybe another night, I think I'm going to sleep."

"I'm so sorry, when we see him, we'll tell him off for you."

"You're going to bring the other guys in this too?"

"Of course, we love you." You felt a small smile creep onto your face.

"And I love y'all. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

Once he hung up, you lay back on your bed. You stare at the ceiling, wondering how could he possibly forget. You feel tears start to form but you quickly wipe them away, and turn to your side so you can go to sleep.

While you're asleep, Mingyu drunkenly stumbles into the dorm. He was confused to see everyone waiting for him.

"You had fun, Mingyu?" Jeonghan asks him.

"I guess so."

"You were with your friends, right?"

He nods.

"Oh, so you forgot."

Mingyu furrows his eyebrows in confusion.

"Forgot what?"

"You don't know what yesterday was?"

Everyone watches as he tries to remember but nothing comes to him. Seungkwan nearly jumped from his seat to go at Mingyu but he was quickly held back. Despite being held back, he still had some words to share.

"How can you forget your own partner's birthday? Huh! We all wished them happy birthday except for you! How dare you!"

Processing his words, Mingyu's face pales. He realized that he messed up big time. He tries to go to your place immediately but Jeonghan stops him, telling him that you're asleep and that he should try later in the morning.

When you wake up, you smell something cooking. You sit up straight, knowing you didn't put anything on the stove or in the oven. You grab your bat and check the rooms before heading to the kitchen. You peak inside and see Mingyu putting a plate on the dining table. He spots you and you two silently stare at each other.

"Y-you made breakfast?" You ask, slowly lowering your bat.

"Yes because this is only the beginning of my apologies."

"Ah, so you came to clear your name?" You ask, laying your bat against the wall and then crossing your arms.

"Listen I know you're not going to forgive me anytime soon but when I tell you I'm sorry, I truly, truly mean it." He walks over to you, dropping to his knees in a deep bow. You feel awkward so you crouch down to his level.

"Mingyu, you're right that I won't forgive you right away. I just want to know why you forgot?"

"I have no excuse and I feel awful that I forgot your special day. I promise you that I'll go out all out for your next birthday."

"That's going to be a long time from now but okay."

"If it's okay with you, can I make it to you for the rest of the week?"

"You know it's more than okay."

For the rest of the week and even all of next week, Mingyu spoiled the absolute daylights out of you. He constantly apologized and you really felt his sorrow. You did eventually forgive him but you still tease him here and there about forgetting things. You were just happy that he reminded you every waking second that he loves you and that's something he will never forget.
