CHAPTER 80: OUR SPECIAL CHRISTMAS GIFT

We watched the other football game, but we ended up falling asleep. Everyone took a nap.  We then had pumpkin pie.  Molly wanted to play with Tom and so we did that.  

Margaret said, "Molly why don't you pick out a movie to watch, and you and me and daddy can do that, Tom has plans with Madison."  She hugged us.  Tom said, 'you ready" I said, "yes" they told us to have fun.  We left.

Tom said, "you want to drive" I laughed and said, "yes" He laughed.  He gave me his keys.  I said, "you are so sweet to me. Letting me drive your car:" He smiled. He said, "well I do have ulterior motives" I looked at him and smiled.  I said, 'oh you do, so what is it" He laughed. He said, "I'm hoping that you will do your girlfriend thing again and help me with my Christmas shopping" I laughed.  I said, "of course Tommy, you don't have to let me drive for me to do that" He smiled.

I said, "I actually have ideas for Mia and Molly, they are so easy to buy for."  He rolled his eyes.  He said, "hardly Rain" I laughed.  He said, "usually I give mom the money and she goes and gets what she knows they want."  I said, "oh do you just want me to do that" He said, "no, I will go with you"

I said, 'I'm really struggling though with what to get your mom and dad. I really want to get them something nice Tommy. for all they have done for me" He said, "they aren't expecting anything from you"  I said, 'I know but still."  He said, "Well I was kind of hoping that you could help me, but I guess if you're struggling, we can struggle together."  He laughed.

He said, "my poor dad, we get him the same things each year, but he is always happy to get it, even though he knows what it is."  We laugh. I said, "What do you guys get him" He said, "cologne. I mean it's easy, and he needs it, but would never spend high dollar cologne for himself, but he gets 3 different kinds, and every year he is like so happy."  I said, "he's such a great dad Tommy. You guys are so lucky to have him" He said, "I know that, definitely after meeting you, hearing about your dad, just leaving you like that."  I said, "Before he left me, he was there, but didn't have anything to do with me, I tried so hard to make him love me Tommy but nothing I did worked. He never loved me or wanted me."  Tom said, "I'm so sorry"

Tom said, "well maybe this year we can put our heads together and think of something different for my parents."  I smiled.  I said, "yes I'm sure we can"  

We were sitting at the duck park, feeding the ducks.  Tom said, "Rain, I forgot to tell you something this morning, maybe because you were in such a hurry to get away from me and get out of our warm bed."  I laughed. So did he.

He said, "Happy Thanksgiving" He hugged me.  I said, 'Happy Thanksgiving to you Tommy. I had the best day ever, and it's all because of you."  He said, 'no my parents and sisters love you for you."  I said, 'but you brought me into the family. I just" I cried.  He said, "What" I said, "I don't want to hurt Mia and Molly. What they said. They will be so hurt when we end our deal"  He said, 'Madison I know but that's still a way off, and don't worry, I mean you and I aren't changing anything, we will still be together hanging out being best friends, you will still stay at our house, and we can figure out what to do, if we have to pretend when we are home on weekends or if they come visit, it's fine."  He hugged me.

I said, "I'm so excited for tomorrow. Getting the Christmas tree sounds wonderful Tommy" He said, "yeah, you know for me too, I usually didn't want to go, I mean the last few years, when I was little yeah, I loved it, but then I got older, and it was like they were punishing me, but I actually am looking forward to tomorrow. All of it. The tree, the decorating, the popcorn, movies, cookies, cocoa," He smiled.

He said, "ok so it's still blowing my mind how we both wanted to come here because we have something to give each other.  It kind of freaks me out, how sometimes it's like we think or say the same thing at the same time. Weird huh" I said, "yes" He said, "does that happen with you and Emma."  I said, "not really."  He said, "it's never happened to me, with any of my friends."
