CHAPTER 61: FLOWERS THAT SPEAK

Tom's dad said, "night son" He patted his back.  Tom said, "night, thanks dad" 

Tom's dad went inside.  Tom's mom was on the couch.  She said, "hi honey."  He kissed her. She said, 'Is Tommy ok" He said, 'I think he will be." She said, "he looked upset earlier, but I figured it was because Madison is staying at Emma's.  I really think he's falling for her and doesn't realize it."

He yes, I think so too. I don't really want to get into the details, if you don't mind, but I guess Madison got upset."  She said, "oh no," He said, 'it was just something from Tom's past or should I say someone."  She said, "I see, so Thomas is feeling bad" He said, "yes I tried give him some advice. Told him he can't control the past, just the future"

Tom and Baylie came in. They went downstairs.  Tom worked out. He was dreading going to bed, because he didn't want to be in his room alone. Be reminded.

Tom's mom came downstairs.  She said, "Thomas are you ok" He said, "yes mom. Did dad tell you what happened?"  She said, 'No not much, just a girl from your past."  Tom said, "yeah she hates me, I don't blame her, but she told Madison a bunch of stuff, how I hurt her, and it blindsided Madison."  She said, "oh no. Is she ok?"  

Tom said, "She was really hurt mom. Crying, she let me explain, but she felt like I knew this girl lived there. It's the daughter of Emma's mom's new boyfriend. I didn't want Madison to go stay there, because I didn't think it was safe. I had no idea that he was Audra's father."  She said, "But Madison thought you should have known the house and hiding it" Tom nodded.

She said, 'I'm sorry honey."  Tom said, "She finally called me back, after I left calls and texts, she says we are good, and we are going to lunch tomorrow, and she is coming home. I just can't get over seeing her cry like that. I mean this is the worst crying she's ever done, worst pain I've seen her in, and I caused it."  She hugged him.  She said, "try and remember that your actions have consequences. I'm not talking about your past; I'm talking about now."  Tom said, 'I know"

Tom went up to his room with Baylie.  Tom turned on the light. Tom went into the guest room and looked at the bed.  One of his shirts that Madison slept in was lying on the bed. He picked it up and smelled it. Then he got her pillow, smelled it.  He carried both downstairs with his pillow and a blanket.  Baylie followed him, and they got on the couch.

In the morning, Tom woke up early. Texted me. Said good morning. I call him. He said, "morning Rain" I laughed. I said, "That sounded funny like you were giving the weather.'  he laughed.

He said, "I hope I didn't wake you" I said, "no" He said, "are we still you still want to have lunch with me?"  I said, "yes" He said, "Good can't wait I miss you." I said, 'I miss you too"

I said, 'You work today right" Tom said, "yes, I'm going early, I want to make some extra money, and need to make up for being gone for 2 weeks."  I said, 'have a good day at work Tommy" He said, "you too, Thanks for calling "

Emma and I went to Starbucks and got Danish and a drink, and then I realized I didn't have my bag with my shorts and tee shirt to change into.  I said, "Dang, Emma I forgot my clothes for running tonight, do you think that you have time to take me home to get them" She said, 'sure"

I went in.  Baylie and Molly ran to me.  Molly hugged me.  She said, "Maddie you're home"  I kiss her, pet Baylie. Mia came and hugged me. She said, "I missed you" I said, "I missed you both."  Molly said, "I missed you too, so did Tommy. He slept on the couch last night because he missed you" I smiled.

Tom's mom came in.  She said, "hi honey" I said, "hi, I just came to get my bag, Tommy and I are going to run after work" She said, "Girls we need to go to your reading groups at the library."  I said, "have fun" They hugged me.  She said, "Mia here's the keys, I'll be right out."  She said, 'Madison are you ok honey. Tommy told me a little of what happened."  I said, "yes I'm fine. I over reacted."  She said, "I'm not sure that you did that."  I said, "Well it was in the past, and I knew about some of it, it just blindsided me. Wasn't expecting it. But there isn't anything he can do about 3 years ago So I shouldn't have got upset. I feel so bad. I hurt him."  She said, "Well it's ok, you were hurt. If you need me or need to ever talk, you do know that I'm here for you."  I said, "yes ma'am thanks" She hugged me and then left.
