"Alright, now finish it with a Vine Whip!" Justin yelled. His newly evolved Bulbasaur, also so known as an Ivysaur, sprouted two vines from the flower on its back and hit an opposing rattata, fainting it.
(Ivysaur)
"Rattata, return!" The kid he was battling yelled, calling Rattata back to its Pokeball.
(Rattata)
"You're really strong! Are you attempting to do the gym challenge?" The kid asked. "Yeah, me and my friends, Ash and Toru are training to become Pokemon masters," Justin replied. "That's so cool! I've always wanted to be a Pokémon master, but I'm not good at catching Pokémon. My throwing skills are bad and everytime I do hit them with the Pokeball, they escape and run away. Rattata here is the only one who hasn't," The kid said, sadly. "How about you I help you practice?" Justin asked. "Sure! Thank you so much!" The kid thanked him.
Justin lead the kid to an empty field full of wild Pokémon. "Now then, pick any Pokémon you'd like and I'll show you how to catch one," Justin said. The kid looked around and eventually saw a Pokémon he wanted. "I want that one!" The kid said, pointing at a wild Growlithe. Justin pulled out his Pokédex and scanned it. "That's a Growlithe. It's a fire type Pokémon so my Ivysaur won't be any good against it," Justin said as he thought of what Pokémon he wanted to use. "Now use your Rattata to weaken it," Justin said.
"What!? My Rattata isn't strong enough!" The kid exclaimed. "Hmm, that's a problem," Justin said. Justin grabbed one of his Pokeballs and threw it. "Go Spearow!" He yelled. Spearow came out and squawked at growlithe. "Spearow, use Gust!" Justin said, pointing at Growlithe. Spearow flapped it's wings hard, sending a huge gust of wind at Growlithe. The gust of wind hit Growlithe, sending it flying back. Growlithe got angry and started shooting fire at Spearow. "Spearow, dodge!" Justin yelled. Spearow dodged all of growlithes attacks. "Now, use Peck!" Justin yelled.
Spearow flew down at Growlithe, delivering a huge peck to its side. Growlithe tried to bite Spearow, but Spearow was too fast and flew out of its range. "Time to finish this! Spearow, Aerial Ace!" Justin called out. Spearow did a vertical 360 degree turn and then dive bombed at Growlithe. Spearow hit Growlithe, making the Puppy fall over. "Okay, now here's a trick to throwing a Pokeball perfectly. Don't think about if the Pokémon will be caught. Just relax and throw the ball. Now you try," Justin said, handing the kid an empty Pokeball.
"Okay, I'll try," The kid said. He closed his eyes, not worrying about if the Pokémon would be caught or not and threw the Pokeball. The Pokeball hit growlithe and absorbed it. The ball shook three times and glowed green. "Yes! I caught a Pokémon!" The kid yelled as he ran and picked the Pokeball up. Justin smiled, happy to know he inspired the kid to not give up. He turned to leave and head to the Pewter City Gym. "Where are you going?" The kid asked. Justin turned and with confidence," To beat the Pewter City Gym". The kid looked at him with huge admiration. "Before you leave, please tell me your name!" The kid said. "Justin, future Pokémon master," Justin answered.
"Well then, remember my name because next time we meet, I'll be way stronger! My name is Philip, the future champion of the Kanto region!" Philip exclaimed. Justin smiled. "I'll be rooting for you, Philip," Justin said as he walked off. "Umm Justin, you forgot your Spearow!" The kid called out. "(I tried so hard to sound cool that I forgot my own Pokémon)" Justin thought to himself in embarrassment. He called Spearow back to its Pokeball and headed to Pewter City. Philip ran into a field full of Pokémon to train his new growlithe.
After a bit of walking, Justin finally arrived at the gym. He opened the door and walked inside. "Hey! I'm looking for Brock!" Justin said. "Greetings! You must be a new challenger!" Justin heard a voice call out. It was Brock. "You must be Brock. My names Justin and I'm here for a Pokémon battle," Justin said. "Straight to the point with you, huh. Haha, Alright then, Let's begin. Go Geodude!" Brock yelled, throwing his first Pokémon. Justin threw Ivysaurs Pokeball.
"Geodude, use Rock Throw!" Brock yelled, starting the battle. Geodude picked up a nearby rock and threw it at Ivysaur. "Ivysaur, dodge!" Justin called out. Ivysaur jumped out of the way of the rock. "Now use Vine Whip!"
Ivysaur sprouted two vines and hit Geodude with them. "Geodude, hit it with your Rock Smash attack!" Brock shouted. Geodude rushed towards Ivysaur and punched it really hard in the face. Ivysaur slid back, but remained standing. "Ivysaur, finish it with a Vine Slam!" Justin yelled.
Ivysaur wrapped two vines around Geodudes arm and slammed it into the ground. Geodude fainted from this attack. "Geodude, return!" Brock said, calling Geodude back to its Pokeball.
Brock threw his next Pokeball and Onix came out. "Guess I should end this early. I'm sure Ash is waiting for me," Justin said. "Ivysaur, solar beam!"
Ivysaur sprouted it vines and opened the gym door with them, leaving Brock confused. Sunlight poured into the building. Ivysaur suddenly grew an orange aura. "Wait, I know this move! Onix, dodge!" Brock yelled. Onix tried to find cover, but Ivysaur wrapped its vines around Onixs body . Ivysaur knelt down, showing a growing light in the plant on its back. "Onix, no!" Brock shouted. A giant beam came out of Ivysaurs plant. The beam hit Onix, causing it to faint. "(In one hit, this guy took down my Onix. He's really strong!)" Brock thought to himself.
"Well, you've proven yourself as a good trainer and for that, I award you the Boulder Badge," Brock said, handing Justin the badge. Justin accepted it and stuck it on his jacket. Justin turned and walked out of the gym.
He stepped outside and saw Ashton waiting for him while holding a box. "How'd your match go, Justin?" Ashton asked, hoping for a good answer. "It went great," Justin said, showing him the badge. "Good job! Now we can make our way to Cerulean City and get the next badge!" Ashton exclaimed. "That might take a bit," Justin said, looking at his Pokédex. "Why's that?" Ashton asked. "We have to through Mount Moon," Justin said. Ashton just looked towards the road to Mount Moon and smiled. "Sounds like a fun challenge. We get to battle people and catch new Pokémon!" Ashton exclaimed. With lots of confidence, Ashton and Justin walked down the path and made their way to Mount Moon.
