It was afternoon and Ashton was still sleeping. The nurse walked into the waiting room and saw Ashton was still asleep. She shook him awake. "Hey, wake up," She said calmly while shaking him gently. Ashton woke up and leaned forward. "What time is is?" He asked. "It's five pm," She said. Ashton jumped up. "Five pm?! I need to go!" Ashton exclaimed. He ran to the washroom and started doing his morning routine.
Once he was ready, he grabbed his hat and bag and ran out the Pokémon Center. He ran down the streets and saw the hotel his friends were staying at. He ran inside and ran to the man at the front desk. "Are there any Pokémon Trainers named Justin , King , and Okotsu?" Ashton asked. The man nodded. "They're on the third floor. First room to the left," The man said.
Ashton nodded and ran up both flights of stairs. He got to the third floor and saw his friends were just leaving the room. "There you are! Where have you been?" King asked. "I've been at the Pokémon Center," Ashton said. "For the entire night?" Okotsu asked, sounding suspicious. "Y-yeah," Ashton stuttered. They all looked at him with skeptical looks on their faces. "You fell asleep at the Pokémon Center, didn't you?" Justin asked. Ashton realized he had been caught and nodded.
"Typical Ash," Justin said. "Anyway, have you guys beat the gym leader yet?" Ashton asked. The other three shivered and nodded. "She's really strong man. We all barely beat her," King said. "I see. What type of Pokémon does she use?" Ashton asked. "She only uses one Pokémon. A single Alakazam," Okotsu said. "Alakazam? I've heard of that Pokémon. It's the final evolution of Abra," Ashton said. He flipped his Pokédex open and looked up Alakazam's entry. He read it out loud. "Alakazam is a Psychic type which means it's weak to Ghost and other other Psychic attacks," Ashton said.
"I don't have any Ghost type Pokémon and Kadabra isn't strong enough to battle it's final evolution," Ashton said. "Maybe you could catch a Ghost type Pokémon," Justin suggested. "That could work! Where can I find one?" Ashton asked.
Suddenly, a hotel servant came running up the stairs. "Y-you four are Pokémon Trainers, right?" The servant asked. "Yes, we are," Justin answered. "We need your help! There's a Haunter in the basement!" The servant yelled.
"A Haunter?" Ashton asked. He flipped open his Pokédex and looked up Haunter's entry. He read its type and got excited. "I'll deal with it!" Ashton yelled as he ran down stairs. "He seemed too excited," Okotsu said. "He just wants to catch Haunter since it's a Ghost type," Justin said, laughing a little.
Ashton ran down to the first floor and went to the door of the basement. He walked downstairs and looked around. It was dark I'm the basement, but not dark enough that he couldn't see. He looked around, but didn't find anything. Suddenly, a box lifted off the ground. Something invisible had lifted it up. It threw it at Ashton, who noticed just in time and dodged. "Who's there?! Is it the Haunted?!" Ashton yelled out loud. A purple ghost appeared and grinned at Ashton.
"You're Haunter! I'm gonna catch you!" Ashton said, punching his fist into his palm. He grabbed a Pokeball and threw it forward. "Go Sandshrew!"
"Sandshrew, use Scratch!" Ashton yelled. Sandshrew ran at Haunter and scratched it, but went flying straight through it. "It's a Ghost type. Why did I think that would work?" Ashton asked, facepalming.
He lifted the Pokeball and called Sandshrew back. He put Sandshrew's Pokeball away and grabbed another one. "Go Kadabra!" Ashton yelled, throwing it forward. "Kadabra, use Psybeam!"
Kadabra closed its eyes and a pink beam came out of its forehead. The beam hit Haunter, damaging it. "Now use Psychic," Ashton said.
Kadabra lifted its arm and a pink aura surrounded Haunter. Kadabra shot it's hand forward and Haunter was sent flying into a wall. Haunter got angry and covered it's fist in a purple aura. It flew at Kadabra and punched it in the face. "Kadabra, use Confusion!" Ashton yelled.Kadabra closed its eyes and a bright light flashed, causing Haunter to be confused. Haunter started shaking and punching the air. "Time to finish this with Pyschic one more time!" Ashton shouted. Kadabra pointed its hand at Haunter and once again, a pink aura surrounded it. Kadabra shot it's arm forward, sending Haunter crashing into a wall. "Nows my chance!" Ashton exclaimed.
Ashton threw a Pokeball at Haunter. The Pokeball absorbed Haunter and shook three times before glowing green. "Alright, I caught a Haunter!" Ashton exclaimed. He grabbed the Pokeball, called Kadabra back to its Pokeball and ran upstairs. "Alright guys, I'm going to train for a bit," Ashton said.
"Let me guess, you caught the Haunter?" Justin asked. "Yep!" Ashton said with a grin as he showed the Pokeball.
Ashton and his friends walked out of the hotel and walked down the street. "What are you guys gonna do while I train?" Ashton asked. "We're gonna go get some supplies and some food for the road," Justin said. Once They were near the field, Ashton started walking a separate direction. "Meet me by the gym in an hour. That should be long enough for me to train my Pokémon and make it to the gym before it gets dark," Ashton said. The others nodded and Ashton walked to the fields to train his Pokémon while Justin and the others walked to the store to get some supplies.
