Three trainers leave Pallet Town and travel across the Kanto and Johto regions. Along the way, they meet lots of friends and enemies and compete in the Kanto Tournament League and the Johto League.
Ashton and his friends were still on the road to Goldenrod City and we're really close. "We're almost there guys! Goldenrod City is super close!" Ashton said. "That's great!" Justin said. "Say Blastoise. How's the egg doing?" Ashton asked his Partner Pokemon. "Blast!" Blastoise said, showing the egg. "That's great. The Nurse from Azalea City did say it was gonna hatch soon. I wonder when though," Ashton said.
Meanwhile in the skies, a hot air balloon was flying over the road our heros were walking down. Inside the hot air balloon were two trouble making people. It was Ronnie and Mike. "Hey Mike! There's those kids!" Ronnie said. "I see them. So what are we gonna do to steal their Pokemon?" Mike asked.
Ronnie thought for a moment and noticed the egg in Blastoise's arms. "Say, was that Blastoise always holding an egg?" Ronnie asked. Mike looked closely and also saw the egg. "Now that you mention it, I've never seen the Blastoise with an egg," Mike said. "I say we steal it! There could be a legendary Pokemon inside that egg!" Ronnie said. "Alright then. I'll fly the balloon towards them," Mike said as he steered the balloon towards the trainers.
"So guys, what type of Pokemon do you think the Goldenrod City Gym Leader uses?" Okotsu asked. "Maybe it uses Ground types," Justin said. "That would be easy to counter with my Blastoise. I'm betting ten pokedollars it's a fire type gym," Ashton said. "I'll bet ten pokedollars it's a Ground Type Gym!" Justin said. "If we're making bets, I bet it's a normal type gym," Okotsu said.
"A Normal type Gym? Do they even have gyms like that?" Ashton asked. "Probably. Thats probably a real gym," Justin said.
Suddenly, a shadow loomed over the trainers. They looked up and saw a hot air balloon land in front of them. "Hello there Brats!" Ronnie said as he and Mike got out of the balloon. "Team Rocket!" The trainers exclaimed. "Why are you two here?" Ashton asked. "What type of question is that. We're here to steal your Pokemon! We're also here to grab that egg!" Ronnie said. "So hand it over or else!" Mike said.
"Not happening!" Ashton said. "Yeah! It's Ash's egg and he's been working hard to take care of it!" Okotsu said. "So? We don't care about all that! We just want the egg! Now hand it over or else!" Ronnie said. "No!" Ashton said.
"Alright then! Go Arcanine!" Ronnie said, throwing his PokeBall forward. "Go Poliwrath!" Mike said, throwing his PokeBall forward. "Right then! Let's go Venusaur!" Justin said. "Let's do this Sceptile!" Okotsu said. Both the trainers sent out their starter Pokemon.
"You guys hold them off! I'm gonna get the egg to safety! Let's go Blastoise!" Ashton shouted. "Right!" Okotsu and Justin shouted. "Blast!" Blastoise said. Ashton and Blastoise started ran past Team Rocket and down the road. "Justin! Okotsu! Catch up to me when you can, Ok!" Ashton shouted. "I don't think so! We're not leaving without that egg! Mike, don't let them get any closer!" Ronnie said. Mike nodded and Ronnie and Arcanine started chasing Ashton and Blastoise.
Ashton and Blastoise were running and noticed Ronnie and Arcanine chasing them. "Get back here and give us that egg brat!" Ronnie shouted. "I don't think so!" Ashton shouted. Ashton and Blastoise turned back around and tripped over a rock, causing the egg to fall out of Blastoise's arms and roll into a forest. "The egg!" Ashton shouted. He ran off the path and into the forest, with Blastoise following him.
Ronnie and Arcanine saw them run into the forest and ran after them. Ashton looked all over for the egg, but couldn't find it. "Blastoise, we can't lose that egg!" Ashton said. "Blast!" Blastoise said. They looked into a bush and saw the egg going down a river. "There it is! Blastoise, carry me down the river!" Ashton said. Blastoise nodded and jumped into the river. Ashton got onto Blastoise's back and the two started swimming down the river. Ronnie and Arcanine got to the river and saw the egg going down the river. They also saw Ashton and Blastoise chasing after it.
"Not happening! That egg is ours!" Ronnie shouted as he and Arcanine started running down the shore of the river. Ashton and Blastoise got closer to egg and Ashton managed to grab it. "Got it!" Ashton exclaimed. That's when he noticed the river was going off a waterfall. "A waterfall! Blastoise, get us out of the river!" Ashton shouted. Blastoise fired a huge blast of water from it's cannons that launched it and Ashton out of the river and back on to shore.
"Phew! That was close," Ashton said. That's when Ronnie swooped in and snatched the egg from Ashton's hands. "Hey! Give it back!" Ashton shouted. "Nope! Finders Keepers, losers weepers!" Ronnie said as he ran back into the forest with Arcanine following it. "Get back here!" Ashton shouted as he and Blastoise chased after Ronnie. They ran through the forest and eventually back on to the road to Goldenrod City.
Mike came running down the road with Justin and Okotsu following him. "Mike! I said to keep them from following us!" Ronnie said. "Did you really think I would able to beat two trainers on my own!" Mike said. "Whatever! We got the egg so let's go!" Ronnie said. "I don't think so! Blastoise, use Water Gun to knock the egg out of his hands!" Ashton said. Blastoise nodded and fired water from it's cannon at Ronnie.
The water hit Ronnie, sending the egg into the air. "I've got it!" Ashton shouted as he jumped and caught the egg. "You brats!" Ronnie and Mike shouted. "Blastoise, use Hydro Pump!" Ashton said. "Venusaur, use Vine Whip!" Justin said, calling Venusaur out. "Sceptile, use Bullet Seed!" Okotsu said, sending Sceptile out as well. The three Pokemon charged their attacks and used them on Ronnie and Mike, sending them flying into the air. "Beaten again! I was so close!" Ronnie said in frustration. "We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket yelled.
"Man, that was close. They almost got away with the egg," Okotsu said. "Yeah. It would've been bad if they did get the egg," Justin said. "I'm just glad it's ok," Ashton said. Suddenly, the egg began to shake and crack, surprising the three trainers and Blastoise. "Woah! Is it hatching?" Ashton asked. "Yep! I figured it was gonna hatch before we got to Goldenrod City," Okotsu said. "I wonder what's gonna hatch from it," Justin said.
A head and arms and legs popped out of the egg and a few seconds later, the Pokemon opened it's eyes.

The Pokemon looked around and saw Ashton. It stared at him for a few seconds before jumping up and hugging him. "Woah! It must love me already!" Ashton said. "It must think you're it's parent! My Treecko thought the same thing when it first hatched and saw me," Okotsu said. "What's your name, little guy?" Ashton asked. "Togepi!" Togepi said very happily. "Togepi, huh? Well nice to meet you! My name's Ashton and I'm the one who helped hatch you!" Ashton said, running Togepi's head.
"Man, Togepi is so cute. I wonder though, are you gonna put it in a PokeBall or are you gonna let it stay out with you and Blastoise?" Justin asked. Ashton thought for a second. "I'm gonna let Togepi walk with me for a bit until it's a little older. Then it can get its own PokeBall," Ashton said.
"Well now that we beat Team Rocket and got to meet Togepi, let's get going to Goldenrod City!" Okotsu said. "Oh yeah! Let's go!" Ashton said. The three trainers walked down the path and continued on their way to Goldenrod City.
