"That food was good," Ashton said, rubbing his stomach Toru nodded in agreement. The two friends were walking to the Indigo Plateau building so they could wait for Ashton's last match. They got there and went into the Waiting Room.
"Hey Toru. How many matches have you won?" Ashton asked. "I've won three. That means I'm able to compete in the main tournament," Toru said. "That's cool. Do you think we'll be able to battle in the tournament?" Ashton asked. "I don't know. I really hope so cus I wanna see who's the stronger between us," Toru said. They looked at the screen with the list of upcoming battles and saw Ashton's match was happening soon.
Ashton stood up and walked to the gate. "Toru, wish me luck man," Ashton said. "Good luck man. Don't lose, ok?" Toru said. Ashton smiled and gave a thumbs up. The intercom turned on. "Would the two trainers Ashton and Branden please head to the Staduim?" The person on the intercom asked.
Ashton walked through the gate and to the Staduim. He walked to the gate and to the Battle Area. He saw his opponent, who was a kid with messy, black hair. He had a bandage on his cheek and was wearing glasses.
"You must be Branden. Nice to meet you!" Ashton said. "Nice to meet you too. You must be Ashton. I've watched all your matches and all your Pokémon impressed me," Adrian said. "I'm glad you think so. You saw how I lost my last battle, so you should know I'm going all out on this battle," Ashton said. Branden nodded. "I expected this. Don't worry, I'll battle all out too," Branden said.
The judge walked into the Staduim and walked to the Battle Area. "Hello everyone! This is our last exhibition match before we start telling all the trainers who will battle in the tournament! Are you all excited?!" The judge asked. The crowd cheered. "That's good to hear! For our last battle, we have the trainer from Pallet Town, Ashton! Battling against him, we have Branden, the trainer from New Bark Town in the Johto Region!" The judge said.
"Alright, Ronnie, we're gonna have to have faith in the brat because if he loses he can't compete and get stronger," Mike said. Ronnie nodded.
"Now then, would the two trainers send out their Pokémon?" The judge asked. Ashton and Branden pulled out a Pokeball and threw it forward. Ashton sent out Blastoise and Branden sent out a white and blue Pokémon that had fire shooting from the back of its neck.
"Woah! Is that a Pokémon from the Johto Region?" Ashton asked. Branden nodded. "This is Typhlosion. He was given to me by one of my dad's friends," Branden said.
"That's so cool, but how's not the time to be amazed by Pokémon! Blastoise, use Rapid Spin!" Ashton yelled, starting the battle. Blastoise ducked into its shell and started spinning. It moved at Typlhosion at a high speed. Typhlosion managed to catch the shell. Typhlosion threw the shell back. Blastoise came back out of its shell. "Typhlosion, use Flamethrower!" Branden yelled.
Typhlosion opened it mouth, shooting a huge flame at Blastoise. The attack hit, making Blastoise fall on its back. "Now use High Kick!" Branden yelled. Typhlosion jumped in the air and landed its kick on Blastoise. Blastoise grabbed Typhlosion's leg and lifted it up. Blastoise slammed it into the ground, over and over.
