Ashton walked to the arena and looked at the stands. They were packed with people from all over the Kanto region. He walked to the battle area and finally saw his opponent. His opponent was someone who looked to be about his age. He was mixed and had a buzz cut.
"Hey Ash! Over here!" He heard someone yelled. He looked to his left and in the stands, saw Justin, Toru, King, Okotsu, Red, Leaf, and His mom. A couple seats over he saw Eric, who stared at him. He looked to his right and saw Ronnie and Mike, two faces he wasn't expecting to see.
A man dressed in all black and white walked to the battle area and walked between Ashton and Darius. He was holding a microphone. Everyone in the stadium got quiet to hear him. "Greetings everyone! Welcome to the first match of the Exhibition Matches. Our first Battle will be between two trainers. On the left, we Darius, a trainer from Pewter City! On the right, we have Ashton, a trainer from Pallet Town!" The judge said.
Everyone cheered for the two trainers. "Before we start, is there anything you two would like to say?" The judge asked. He walked up to Darius and put the mic to his face. "All I have to say is that I hope Ashton gives me a good challenge," Darius said into the Mike. The judge walked over to Ashton and put the mic near his face. "This battle is for everyone who believes in me," Ashton said. The judge smiled and walked to a platform that was far from the Battle Area.
"Alright! Would the contestants please send out their first Pokémon so I may explain the rules?" The judge asked. Darius and Ashton grabbed a Pokeball each and threw it forward. Ashton sent out Vileplume and Darius sent out a Gyarodos.
"Alright. Here's how the exhibition matches work. Both trainers will send out 1 Pokémon per battle. When one of the trainers Pokémon faint, both contestants will send out different Pokémon. The trainer that fainted the other trainers Pokémon will get a point. When three Pokémon have been used, the winner will be the one with the most points. Do you understand?" The judge asked. Ashton and Darius nodded. "Then this match will begin now!" The judge yelled.
Darius looked at Ashton. "This should be fun," Darius said with a determined grin on his face. Ashton grinned back. "Gyarados, use Water Pulse!" Darius yelled. Gyarodos shot ring shaped beams of water at Vileplume. The attack hit. "Vileplume, use Vine Slam!" Ashton yelled. Vileplume shot a vine at Gyarodos and wrapped it around its long body. Vileplume pulled hard, sending it crashing into the ground. "Gyarodos, use Aqua Tail!" Darius yelled.
Gyarados flew towards Vileplume and slammed its tail into it. Vileplume was sent rolling back and still got up. " Vileplume, use Petal Blizzard!" Ashton shouted. Vileplume shot leaves out of its plant, which flew towards Gyarodos. They started forming into a blizzard, which damaged Gyarodos from all over. Eventually, Gyarodos fell to the ground. "Ashton gets the first point!" The judge yelled.
Ashton and Darius called their Pokémon back to their Pokeballs and grabbed a second one. "Go Dodrio!" Darius yelled throwing his Pokeball. A brown bird with three heads came out and squawked at Ashton.
"Go, Sandslash!" Ashton yelled, throwing his second Pokeball. "Dodrio, use Drill Peck!" Darius yelled. Dodrio ran at Sandslash and, using its three heads, delivered strong pecks at Sandslash. Sandslash scratched Dodrio, making it jump back. "Sandslash, use Fury Swipes!" Ashton yelled.
Sandslash ran at Dodrio and started scratching it over and over again. "Dodrio, use Body Slam!" Darius yelled. Dodrio ran around the Battle Area at high speeds. Sandslash tried to keep up with Dodrio, but got dizzy in the process. Using this to its advantage, Dodrio rushed at Sandslash and slammed its whol body into it. Sandslash tumbled back and fainted.
"The second point goes to Darius!" The judge said. Ashton and Darius called their Pokémon back to their Pokeballs and grabbed their final Pokeballs. "Go Hitmonchan!" Darius yelled, throwing his last Pokeball. A brown, humanoid Pokémon with boxing gloves came out.
"Go Primeape!" Ashton yelled, throwing his last Pokeball. "A fighting type against Fighting type match? This should be fun!" Darius yelled. "Agreed! Let's start! Primeape, use Gut Punch!" Ashton shouted.
Primeape rushed at Hitmonchan and punched it in the stomach. Hitmonchan tried to punch Primeape, but it ducked. Primeape grabbed Hitmonchan's arm and flipped it over its shoulder, slamming it into the ground. Hitmonchan jumped up and delivered a barrage of punches at Primeape. It threw one last punch, sending Primeape flying back.
"Primeape, use Low Kick!" Ashton shouted. Primeape rushed at Hitmonchan and did a sweep kick, knocking it on its back. Hitmonchan kicked Primeape, making it hold its face in pain. Hitmonchan jumped up and uppercutted Primeape. "Hitmonchan, use Fire Punch!" Darius yelled.
A fiery aura surrounded Hitmonchan's fist. It winded it's fist back and punched Primeape, sending it rolling back. "Primeape, use Brick Break!" Ashton shouted. Primeape ran at Hitmonchan and punched it three times, sending it sliding back. "It's time to end this! Hitmonchan, use Focus Punch!" Darius yelled. "Primeape, use Mega Punch!" Ashton shouted at the same time. Hitmonchan covered it's fist in a dark red aura and Primeape covered it's fist in an orange aura. Both Pokémon ran at each other and delivered fast punches to the other.
The entire stadium got quiet as everyone waited to see who would fainted from the attack. Hitmonchan couldn't stand anymore and fell to the ground. "That concludes the first Exhibition match! The winner is Ashton!" The judge said. The crowd started cheering. "I knew he could do it," Justin said. "Good job Ash!" King yelled. Toru smiled at his friends victory. Okotsu and Leaf clapped.
"I knew he could do it Mike!" Ronnie said to Mike. "Yeah. The kids strong. He managed to bring down the boss of Team Rocket and two Elite Officers," Mike said.
Ashton walked across the Battle Area to Darius and stuck his hand out. "That was a good match, Darius," Ashton said. Darius smiled and shook his hand. "Of course! Next time we meet, I won't lose so quickly," Darius said with determination in his voice. Ashton nodded and walked out of the arena.
Ashton walked through the gate and to the main lobby. "Hey Ash," He heard someone say. He turned and saw Eric standing behind him. "Eric? What are you doing here?" Ashton asked. Eric didn't answer that question. "I'm not here to root for you. I'm just here to say don't lose. It'll make Pallet Town look weak," Eric said before walking away. Ashton shrugged and walked out the building.
"Hey Ash, there you are," He heard someone say. It was Justin. "Hey Justin," Ashton said. "Good job on your match. You did great," Justin said. "Thanks. It was a really hard battle though," Ashton said.
"Yeah. Anyway, I'm on my way to my match. Are you gonna come watch?" Justin asked. "I'm sorry. I really want to, but I'm tired," Ashton said. "I understand. The trainer buildings are over there," Justin said, pointing to the left. There was a bunch of buildings and a sign that read "Trainer Plaza". "Thanks. See you later and good luck on your match," Ashton said. "Thanks man," Justin said. The two trainers walked opposite directions.
Ashton walked into the Trainer Plaza and walked through the hallway. There was a room the had a sign with his name on it, so he walked In. He placed his bag down, took his hat off, and laid on the couch and fell asleep.
