Ashton and his friends were currently still on the road to Fuchsia city. They had been walking for ten minutes, but nothing exciting had happened since they left Saffron. "I swear, the moment I see a new Pokémon, I'm gonna catch it!" King said. Ashton and Okotsu had gotten bored and started tossing a Pokeball back and forth. Justin was looking around at the big empty fields around them.
They heard footsteps running towards the and turned around. "Hey Justin!" They heard a kid yell. It was a voice Justin hadn't heard in a while. "Philip! It's been a while!" Justin said, smiling. "Who's this?" Ashton asked, catching the Pokeball and throwing it back to Okotsu.
"This is Philip. I met him in Pewter City. I helped him catch a Pokémon," Justin said. "I'm still thankful for that, but anyway, I've come here to challenge you to a battle!" Philip said, pointing a Pokeball at Justin. Justin grinned.
"Alright, let's do it then. Ashton, you be Referee," Justin said. Ashton nodded and they all walked to an open field. "Today we have a battle happening at the road leading to Fuchsia City! First we have, Justin, A trainer from Pallet Town Vs the newcomer Philip!" Ashton yelled. Justin laughed a little and pulled out a Pokeball. "Go Spearow!" Justin said, throwing the Pokeball.
"Go Growlithe!" Philip yelled, throwing his Pokeball. "Let's start! Spearow, use Wing Attack!" Justin yelled. Spearow flapped it's wings, causing two tornadoes of wind to form. The two tornadoes formed into a big tornado and moved towards Growlithe. Growlithe was pulled into the tornado and thrown into the air. Growlithe hit the ground hard. "Growlithe, get up and use Flame Wheel!" Philip said. Growlithe ran towards Spearow and shot a flame out of its mouth. The flame covered Growlithe's body and turned into a spinning wheel. "Spearow, dodge!" Justin yelled.
Spearow tried to dodge, but Growlithe jumped and slammed its whole body into Spearow. Spearow didn't faint from this attack. "Alright Spearow, kick up some sand!" Justin yelled. Spearow flew in front of Growlithe and flapped it's wings, causing sand to fly into Growlithes face, blinding it. "Now dive bomb it!" Justin yelled. Spearow flew up high and dived down straight into Growlithe. Growlithe was sent tumbling back from this attack.
Growlithe tried to get up, but couldn't. Philip called it back to its Pokeball and grabbed another. "You're pretty good, but I'm not done yet!" Philip said, throwing his last Pokeball.
"Go Golduck!" Philip yelled. A blue humanoid duck with a red gem on its head came out.
Justin pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon. "( Golduck is a Water and Psychic type. Ivysaur is my best shot here, but that would be too easy)" Justin said. Justin grabbed Machop's PokeBall and threw it forward.
Meanwhile, Ashton had pulled out his Pokedex and scanned Golduck while Okotsu and King stared at him like he was an alien.
"Machop, use Mega Punch!" Justin yelled. An orange aura covered Machop's fist and it ran at Golduck. Before Machop could land it's punch, Golduck raised its arm and a pink aura surrounded Machop. Golduck threw it's arm down, causing Machop to slam into the ground. "Now use Water Gun!" Philip said. Golduck shot a beam of water at Machop, damaging it a lot.
"Machop, hit it with a low kick!" Justin shouted. Machop got close to Golduck and did a sweep kick, making Golduck land on it's back. "Now use your Slam attack!" Justin said. Machop picked Golduck up with both arms and threw it into the ground really hard. "Golduck are you okay?" Philip asked. Golduck struggled to get back up, but it was back on it's feet.
"Machop, punch it," Justin said. Machop rushed at Golduck again, preparing a punch. "Golduck, use Mirror Wall!" Philip shouted. He knew that if Machop landed another punch, Golduck would lose. Golduck put up a wall of light, which completely blocked Machop's punch. Machop tried to punch Golduck again, but the mirror wall wouldn't go down.
Machop tried to run around the mirror wall, but couldn't because the wall followed it. Then Justin got an idea. "Machop, Punch Barrage!" Justin yelled.
Machop started throwing really fast punches at the mirror wall. The wall was able to stand for a bit, but then started to crack. "That's bad!" Philip yelled. The wall broke, giving Machop the opening it was looking for. "Golduck, dodge!" Philip shouted.
Golduck tried to dodge, but Machop managed to grab it before it could. Machop held Golduck with its left hand and winded back it's right arm. Machop delivered a strong punch to Golduck's face.
Golduck went tumbling back and landed in front of Philip. "Golduck can no longer battle! Philip, do you have any more Pokemon who can battle?" Ashton asked. "I have a Rattata, but he's tired Right now so no," Philip said.
"Then that means that Justin is the winner of this battle!" Ashton yelled. Philip called Golduck back to it's PokeBall. Justin walked up to Philip and stuck his hand out. "That was a good match, Philip," Justin said, smiling. Philip smiled back and shook Justin's hand. "Yeah it was! I'm gonna keep training my Pokemon so I can give you a better challenge next time," Philip said with determination in his voice. Justin nodded and Philip turned and made his way to a nearby field.
Justin walked over to his friends. "That kid is good. He's definitely gonna be a champion when he's older," Okotsu said. Justin nodded in agreement.
"Well, let's get going. Fuchsia City is just up ahead," Ashton said. The other three nodded and they all started continuing down the path to Fuchsia City.
