Three trainers leave Pallet Town and travel across the Kanto and Johto regions. Along the way, they meet lots of friends and enemies and compete in the Kanto Tournament League and the Johto League.
You see any Pokémon yet?" Ashton asked. "Not any new ones. It's only rattata and pidgeys," Justin replied. Suddenly, Justin tripped over something. He got up and saw a blue, humanoid Pokémon that was the size of a child.

"What is this thing?" Justin asked. Ashton pulled out his Pokédex and scanned the creature. "It's called a Machop. It's a fighting type," Ashton said. "Ok I'm gonna catch it," Justin said as he threw and empty Pokeball. He threw the Pokeball at Machop , the Pokeball absorbing Machop inside. "I thought you had to weaken the Pokémon before you throw the Pokeball?" Ashton asked."I always thought that too, but then I saw somebody catch a Pidgey without weakening it," Justin said. "Hey look, you caught it," Ashton said, pointing at the Pokeball. As Justin was going to grab the Pokeball, a white haired round monkey with a pig snout came out of the grass. "A new Pokémon!" Ashton exclaimed.

Ashton pulled out his Pokédex and scanned it. "It's called a Mankey. It's a fighting type and I'm gonna catch this one," Ashton said full of confidence. He grabbed a Pokeball and threw it forward. "Go Wartortle!" Ashton shouted. Wartortle got prepared to fight. Mankey noticed this and ran at Wartortle.
"This thing isn't messing around!" Ashton yelled. "Wartortle, use Flying Kick!" Wartortle ran at Mankey and jumped at it, preparing a kick. Mankey jumped over Wartortle, making it fly into a rock. "That move really backfired," Justin said while Ashton was in shock. Mankey came falling down and landed a kick on the water type Pokémons head. Ashton and Justin flinched from this. "I'm not giving up just yet! Wartortle, use Aqua Tail!" Ashton yelled. Wartortle junped at Mankey and prepared to hit it with its tail. A watery aura appeared on Wartortles tail. Wartortle swung its tail and hit Mankey at full force, sending it flying into a rock. Mankey was about to get back up when suddenly, a Pokeball hit it and absorbed it inside. Ashton had used the opportunity to throw the Pokeball. The Pokeball shook three times and glowed green. "Awesome! I got a Mankey!" Ashton exclaimed as he grabbed the Pokeball.
He turned and saw Justin was nowhere nearby. "Huh. He must of ran off to catch some more Pokémon. So if I find a rare Pokémon, it's all mine," Ashton said with a grin. Out of the corner of his eye, Ashton saw something shine. Hoping that it was a Pokémon, he ran towards it. When he got to where the shine came from, he saw something that surprised him.
