Three trainers leave Pallet Town and travel across the Kanto and Johto regions. Along the way, they meet lots of friends and enemies and compete in the Kanto Tournament League and the Johto League.
Ashton and Blastoise opened the door and saw Bruno sitting on the floor with his legs crossed and eyes closed. "Um, I'm here to challenge you? You're Bruno, right?" Ashton asked. Bruno nodded and stood up. "I am Bruno of the Elite Four. I always train to the extreme because I believe in me and my Pokemon's potential. That is how we became as strong as we are today," Bruno said.
"I also trained hard so that I get the opportunity to battle you and compete in the Johto League!" Ashton said. "You trained hard, but can you withstand our power? I sense no fear in you and you have a look of determination that I haven't seen in years. That is the type of spirit I want from an opponent! Are you ready challenger? You will bow down to our overwhelming power!" Bruno said as he grabbed a PokeBall from his pocket and threw it forward. An Onix came out.
"An Onix! Ok then. Blastoise, you wanna battle it?" Ashton asked. "Blastoise!" Blastoise said with a determined look on it's face. "Alright then buddy. Go show them your power!" Ashton said, pointing forward. Blastoise walked forward and faced the Onix. "Ok Onix, use Tail Slam!" Bruno said. Onix roared loudly and lifted it's tail. It swung it at Blastoise.
"Blastoise, use Rock Pillar to stop that attack!" Ashton said. Blastoise smashed it's fist into the ground, making a huge pillar of stone rise out of the ground. Onix's tail hit the pillar, completely stopping it. "Good job! Now use Hydro Pump!" Ashton called out. "Blast!" Blastoise said while nodding. Blastoise charged a huge beam of water in it's cannons and fired the attack at Onix. The attack hit Onix, damaging it and knocking it on it's back. "Onix, use Dig!" Bruno said.
Onix got up and started burrowing into the ground. The ground around Blastoise started to shake. "Blastoise, jump!" Ashton shouted. Blastoise jumped into the air at the exact moment Onix bursted out of the ground. Blastoise managed to completely dodge Onix and land in front of Ashton. "Onix, use Rock Throw!" Bruno said.
Onix smashed it's tail into the ground, breaking it into many pieces. Onix grabbed them with it's tail and started throwing them at Blastoise one by one. Blastoise jumped from side to side, dodging most of the rocks. Blastoise couldn't dodge a huge one and was hit, making it fly back and land on it's back. "Blastoise, are you ok?" Ashton asked. "Blastoise!" Blastoise groaned as it got back on it's feet.
"Onix, finish it off with another Tail Smack!" Bruno said. "I don't think so! Blastoise, dodge and hit it with an Aqua Punch!" Ashton called out. Onix swung it's tail at Blastoise. Blastoise jumped over the tail and towards Onix while winding it's fist back. Blastoise covered it's fist in a watery aura and delivered a strong punch to Onix's face, making it fall over and land on it's back. Blastoise landed in front of Ashton and fell on it's stomach.
Both Pokemon fainted due to exhaustion. "You did great Blastoise. Come back," Ashton said. Blastoise managed to stand back up and walk towards Ashton. It got next to it's trainer and laid down before ducking into it's shell. "You fought well buddy. You get some rest," Ashton said while petting Blastoise's shell. Bruno called Onix back to it's Pokeball and both trainers prepared their next PokeBall.
They both threw their PokeBalls forward and sent out their next Pokemon. Ashton sent out Primeape and Bruno sent out a Pokemon Ashton hadn't seen before.
