This story starts many moons ago, in September 1971, when Remus and Sirius, two young boys of 11, met on the Hogwarts Express. That day was momentous for two reasons: that day was the start of the Marauders, but also the beginning of a love story so strong, so powerful that not even Azkaban could break them.

Sirius was still in denial about being gay; he continued to flirt with girls, in second year when they found out about Remus's condition. The morning after a full moon Sirius went to the hospital wing after falling down the stairs only to find Remus in one of the beds beaten and bruised, weak, tired.

Watching Remus sleep, his wounds healing Sirius felt his heart breaking. That was when Sirius realized he was gay and he had a crush on his best friend.

James was the first to notice and well the two boys owe him their relationship. He had been teasing them for months the tension was high between the two, James found it unbearable so one day he tricked the two into an abandoned classroom. He locked them in there for an entire weekend until they admitted that they liked each other. Everyone noticed when they started dating. Sirius would hold Remus's hand or while they sat at the table for meals he begged for kisses, to which Remus would relent. Remus would never let Sirius know but he loved when Sirius kissed him, in front of everyone made it clear they belonged to each other.

But that part of the story is a bit too early. The next key part in their story didn't happen till their seventh year. After their final Newt they were in the common room celebrating with a couple bottles of firewiskey and a game of truth or dare when a plan James had had for several months finally fell in place.

During their last Truth or Dare game he had gotten Lily to take the test that meant she could offiate weddings and this time, he made sure the two were drunk enough to agree to a wedding.

That night the two got married, the next morning when they remembered what had happened there was no regret only love. Hogwarts showed her approval by removing their two single beds and replacing them with a queen.

Professor McGonagall was the first to notice the next day. Remus and Sirius, now Remus and Sirius Lupin-Black walked in holding hands. Professor McGonagall walked past pauseing and tuning when she noticed the rings.

Remus's was a simple silver band, Sirius's a matching Black band. Etched on the inside was the words 'Forever and Always'.

"My office now!" She turned and walked out.

The two boys looked at each other, they stood up, Sirius wrapped his arm around his husband as they walked out following behind McGonagall.

Remus was afraid they were going to get into trouble for their wedding... instead they got into trouble for getting married before the age of 21 and making her lose 20 galleons to Headmaster Dumbledore.

But even that isn't the end of this story, no this is just the beginning...

After Hogwarts Remus and Sirius moved in with Remus's parents Lyall and Hope Lupin. Remus was terrified to introduce his new husband to his parents. It wasn't because he was gay, his parents knew that, it wasn't because it was the first time they were meeting Sirius, they had met Sirius, they had been introduced to him as Remus's boyfriend already.

Remus had always been close to his parents. They would be heartbroken to miss his wedding, also he was SEVENTEEN! Far too young for such a massive life decision, but it turned out they weren't mad just excited and protective.

That's a story for another time though.

About four months into living in the Lupin household, Sirius had been working a steady job for three and half months, Remus felt defeated not being able to find real work. He would put on a face for Sirius when he got home. Sirius saw it though, in the way he refused gifts from Sirius, the way their bed was unmade, Remus would still be in his pjs.
