Chapter 202. Lucas Arrives

" He's in the holding building, Ma- Lord Matthew."

" Thank you, Ruby."

/GYUUUU!/

" What was that?"

" It sounded like a dying animal! Lord Matthew, get behind me!"

" Relax Ruby. That would be my stomach you heard. It's been almost 24 hours since I've eaten anything. And since I was about to eat, my stomach's even more upset since my food was robbed from me."

" Sorry, Lord Matthew..."

" Don't worry, Flare. Technically, this is my fault for accepting this request... Well, I'll need a person like Lucas eventually... Maybe all of my problems at this point are my fault?"

" You're quite negative when you're hungry, Lord Matthew."

" Show me a starving man who's happy and I'll pay you his weight in gold, Flare."

" Fufufu. I'll be on the lookout for one."

I left my house with Flare; she escorted me to the holding building at the Northern Gate into Paradise. That was where Lucas apparently arrived. I was surprised in a way since I thought it would take about 6 months to get here from Midori Forest, but Lucas seemed to make almost double time here. Either he's eager to work or Anna's Mother hasn't really been able to instill that I'm not a bad guy in the Mori household yet. I just hope Liz doesn't hate me when she comes to visit. When I arrived at the holding building, Ruby was standing guard. After our little exchange I began to enter the room.

" Wait!"

I heard a familiar voice from behind me. It was Anna.

" Anna? Oh! You want to speak to your brother as well, right?"

" Yeah!"

Anna smiled as she answered my question. However, I noticed a small issue with Anna. I took out a handkerchief I had with me.

" Hm?"

" Just give me a second. We can't have you meeting your brother for the first time in a year with a bunch of butter around your mouth. I'm glad you like the buttered rolls though."

Anna had an outline like lip stick around her mouth. If I had to guess unlike me, Anna actually sat and ate as much as she could before she ran out to us. I smiled and chuckled at her as I finished wiping off the crumbs and butter from her lips.

" What's so funny, Darling?"

" Nothing, it's just that you're usually the one taking care of me like this, I usually don't get to dote on you like this... Well, unless we're talking about situations like last night, of course."

Anna blushed a little at my words.

" Maybe we shouldn't be thinking about that since we're going to see your brother now. My apologies. Speaking of which, let's just take a minute, okay?"

I moved my hands up and down as I took deep breaths and Anna followed suit. In a few breaths, Anna had calmed down. With that, she began to ask me an important question.

" Why didn't you tell me my brother was coming here?"

" Well, to be fair, I didn't know when he would arrive or even if he would. Your father sent me a letter asking for me to take in Lucas as a subordinate. I agreed to the request. The reason why I didn't tell you was simple... I just wanted to surprise you. And that unfortunately failed."

Anna looked at me puzzled.

" I understand the sentiment, but please, don't hide things from Sarah and me. Bringing in someone is a big decision, we're supposed to be partners, right?"
